huskertko Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 Husker, I thought you got a job at BPS? :-?I dont have the best memory, but I recall something about that.... I did, but due to my primary job schedule as well as my wife's schedule, I had to quit, :'( >:(but I am trying furiously to get back on now that our schedules are more normal again. Quote

Super User senile1 Posted March 30, 2007 Super User Posted March 30, 2007 Hmmm . . . . I've bought a few reels (including three Shimanos) at Cabelas in KCK and have yet to get a bad one. This makes me worry. Huskertko, are you sure somebody didn't take a Pflueger or a Quantum and paint the Shimano logo on it? : Quote
huskertko Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 That is why I kept exchaning them, I figured there is now way I will get two bad ones in a row, then I did. Thought there is no way on this green earth that I am getting 3 bad shimanos in a row, and what do ya know it happened. I am not sure of what or why it happened, but I just bought a Shimano Chronarch 50 MG from BPS today, now if that goes bad, I am going to quit fishing because then it must be me not the equipment. fish-fighting-illini Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Husker, Watch your back the posse will be out in force and you stand a ggod chance of ending up on the wrong end of a rope! Don't worry you won't hang though some guy riding a horse named Pflueger will catch you before you stretch your neck! This ought to stir them up! lol Quote

TrickyVT1887 Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 There is alot of great humor on this thread talking about fishing with Pfluegar instead of Shimano ;D ;D ;D I can't stop laughing sorry Quote

RockvilleMDAngler Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 i really didnt want to speak on this thread .... but i have to say my peice ..... i was a avid shimano possie guy for years ... shimano reels have never done me wrong ,,, infact im still happy with the ones i still have ..... however they pulled a stunt a short while back that really burned me >... this being the reason i said enough is enough ..... bass pro was having a reel exchange a while back ..... great program ,, the reels where going to kids who couldent afford to buy fishing gear .... every major reel co. took part in this ( reel exchange ) ..... well except SHIMANO .... see to me this says one thing and one thing olny .... its a slap in the face .... instead of taking part in a program that will help younger fisherman out ,,, they worried about the 20percent off the new reels they would have to give ..... they stink of a corprate company totally disconected from fishing ..... they dont even sponcer any pros ... they olny sponcer tv shows like linders ,,, and jimmy huston .... wow who ever is working in the corprate shimano offices must be slow in the head or they are olny worried about 1 thing ,,, thier bottom dollar .... JUST SOMETHING TO CHEW ON ,,, next time your looking at that 600 dollar stella ..... to me they are nothing more than corprate swine ,,, they lost a possie member ive taken my money to diawa and couldent have been more happier ..... ;D While I know that passing on a charitable situation like that might seem heartless, it is stupid to instantly bash the company for not participating unless you know what their charitable donations are. Virtually every large company in the US does charitable donation (if only for the tax breaks) so I imagine that Shimano is doing something on their own. It's also silly to assume that BPS (or whoever was running this promotion) wasn't profiting in some way from it and perhaps Shimano didn't feel that the program was being run properly or being correctly distributed. If Sally Struthers organized every tackle company except one to give 75 cents a day for poor African children it would be silly to blame the one company since perhaps they didn't like that their donations ALSO went to paying Sally for her time along with the salaries of everyone who is working for this organization and that only 15 cents of their donation ACTUALLY went to a starving child. If the company would rather just give money to the poor directly then great. The bottom line is that it is naeive to think that BPS or Cabelas or Daiwa etc. was doing this promotion ONLY to help young kids get into the sport.... because the more young kids who fish the more who get bitten by the bait monkey and spend TONS of money on gear they don't really need. ;D Quote

mike bat Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 well 1st ,, i dont wanna bash shimano ,,, but i had to ... i just think this fishing sport is so great and could be even greater if more companys would get involved ..... this whole BPS thing really strikes a nerve with me .... see it was such an easy way to say ,, we care about the future of fishing .... it was an even easier way to get more kidds hooked on fishing that more than likly would have been buyin shimano reels when they where adults .... i mean it really was a no brainer ..... now the whole take me fishing campane isnt helping many ive been reading about this program and have yet to really see take me fishing doing anything other than writing little bits on shimanos web page ... i dont want shimano to give every kid a free reel ... i just want to know im supporting companys that are helping other people ...THATS IT ....BPS,,, quantum,, diawa,,, and any other companys that where involved with the reel exchange should be praised .... this reel exchange was a great program and im glad to see there are still companys that care about the youth and our sport ..... we fisherman have to watch whats going on in our sport .... ;D im not even mad anymore just dissapointed .....
