I just got an ABU 5000 the red round reel. I opened it up to make sure all 6 brakes on(centrifugal) its different than my other reels they do not snap out into position Am I correct to take brakes off you have to remove them all together and as long as they are in place in that small circular arwea around the spool they are engaged?

If this is a true 5000 red, the brakes you're looking at are really brakes.  In the old days you got different sizes and slid the old ones off and the new ones on.  They used to have the ones that came on the reel plus one pair larger and another smaller.

Those are great reels to learn on.  You really have to learn thumb control with those.

You will have to push them down till they click ,experiment with them but remember if u click one down if you HAVE TOO do another one do the opposite side of the one you put down!!
