llPa1nll Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Well me again kinda dont know which way I should go here and I came to ask the all knowing what they would do. I have decided to buy a Gloomis GLX rod. The 7' 1" BCR854 GLX or the 6'8" BCR804 GLX. I mainly pitch to boat docks, and I already have a 7'6" AllStar FRH flipping stick. I would be using mainly a 1/4oz jig with 17lb test on this rod. what do you guys suggest the 854GLX or the 804GLX. I used to have a 6'10" Castaway MH jig rod which in size is basically right in the middle. Any input would be helpful. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 me personally I'd go with the 854. the docks I pitch usually have cables and I need that extra length Thats my opinion. Quote
Cephkiller Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 I have a MBR844C GLX (7'0") and I love it. Pitching is no problem fior me and I'm only about 5' 10" so if that helps, go for it. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted March 23, 2007 Super User Posted March 23, 2007 I have the BCR 803 GLX and it is a fine rod. I would think if you are looking at the 804 and the 854, the only difference is the length. I don't believe the 5in difference between the two would matter much but the longer length might be better for soft plastic and pitching. Personally, having owned the 803 I would go for the 804 but if you are throwing senko type baits I would look at the BCR864. You really can't go wrong with either one of the rods you picked. Quote
