Just was looking at some new lines to try for fishing for Smallies and I noticed Gamma claims that their copolymer line of 8 pound diameter actually breaks at around 15 pound test. Can anyone verify this? Those of you who have tried this line what did you think about it? Thanks!

I can.

I started using it last summer and it is my new favorite line.  It's strong, manageable, and fairly tough.  I am now using it on all my reels except my braid set-up.

I have no experience with it on spinning gear, but I don't think it would be a problem.  I am however using 6 lbs on my finesse baitcaster with no problems.

KU have you tried any of the new colors yet?

I tried some last year in the clear as it was all that was offered and my only complaint was it was almost impossible to see. Heck you almost see the reel spool when it was filled up it is that clear.

Last year I bought a spool of 10# and used it on a spinning reel, a Daiwa 2500 size. I have no complaints, I'm just not yet sure if it's worth the higher price.

Yeah, their clear is the clearest clear if that makes since ::) ;D

I have the green spooled up now on a couple reels.  Only fished twice so far and I like it a tad better.  Still seems to be a little more difficult to see than other lines.

I spooled up my baitcasters with the Green 12 lb and so far, so good. I would agree that the break strength is underated. I got hung up in timber last time out and ended up just cutting it.....

I think it may have a little more stretch than 12 lb Yo-Zuri original.

sidenote: used Real Magic on it before going out last time and I think that helped the memory-not that it was a huge issue to start with...but definitely helped on the 6 lb on my Stradic 2500. If I re-spool the Stradic with Gamma, I think I will go with 4lb next time just to attempt to minimize memory just a little more since the break strength seems to be fairly high for the rating.

It is a good line.  The breaking strength well exceeds what is listed.  I fish around rocks a lot and when I get stuck, the line comes through for me without breaking.  I have not changed the Gamma line on my reel, which I need to do, in over 4 months.  I just pulled in my new PB in Tenn. on Saturday using this old Gamma line.  I think you will like it.

I bought some 10# clear Gamma for fishing the break walls of southern Lake Michigan.  Very large rocks/boulders, some zebra mussels.  I am planning on fishing tubes and Ika's.  Do you think this line will take the abrasion from the rocks or is there something else I should try?
