Super User roadwarrior Posted September 6, 2007 Super User Posted September 6, 2007 Time to try a new hook while BPS has them on clearance: http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=38281&hvarTarget=search&cmCat=SearchResults C'mon now, trust me on this. Pick up a couple of packs and report back. I fish these and Gammies, but will be giving the Owners a try based on member recommendations. So, try something new. You may not switch over for good, but you will not be disappointed in these hooks. I fish the 4/0 EWG Offset Worm Hook almost exclusively with soft plastics. Quote
Davis Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 May just give them a whirl. I'm experimenting with different hooks as of late. Like the Gammies a lot. Haven't had much trouble with them at all. My Z-bend EWG Owner Hooks in 4/0 and 5/0 just arrived yesterday. Man are those some big ole hooks. Definately will work well on my tubes and Fatboys. Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 6, 2007 Author Super User Posted September 6, 2007 Hey Brent! I fish the following sizes: 3 1/2" Gitzit 3/0 EWG Most soft plastics 4/0 EWG (including 6" Senko) Swimming Senko 5/0 Offset Round Bend 7" Senko What do you recommend for 6" stick baits? Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted September 6, 2007 Super User Posted September 6, 2007 I would if I could get them somewhere besides BPS, I won't buy there anymore. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted September 6, 2007 Super User Posted September 6, 2007 Thanks RW. I gave the X-Point hooks a try early on this year and I really liked them. The point seem to penatrate better than most hooks for some reason. It has been hard to find around here. I hope I'll be able to make to BPS this fall and pick some up if they still have them. Quote
Guest tnc1 Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 I guess if you are like me, the hook doesn't really matter a whole lot unless you can catch a fish. LOL Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted September 6, 2007 Author Super User Posted September 6, 2007 I guess if you are like me, the hook doesn't really matter a whole lot unless you can catch a fish. LOL The hook is THE most important piece of equipment you have if you INTEND to catch a fish! 8-) Quote
bassboy1 Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 The hook is THE most important piece of equipment you have if you INTEND to catch a fish! Cool Yeah, but when you are like me, and never even get a bite (hard to catch fish in the swimming pool) a hook doesn't matter. Hard to catch a bass that doesn't bite. Yet I still throw the dang 3 bucks for a 5 pack Gammy EWG hooks. For some reason, once I got a boat, expensive baits seem cheaper. When shore fishing, I never woulda thrown a Gammy, or a Lucky Craft. Now I don't even flinch when buying them. Quote
Pond Hopper Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Just ordered some along with a few other goodies! Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 x points are awsome. Best hook I've ever used. Keep an eye out in the for sale on here. I'm going to have a fall cleaning sale, I need some shelf space in the basement. Quote
ABC123 Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Too funny. I don't come in this forum often, but I just picked up some of these hooks in 1/0 and 3/0 dirt cheap from the local bait store. I was just wondering this morning, as I watch the rain fall >, what they will perform like tomorrow when I get to try them. BTW, I'm used to worm hooks with the barbs to hold the worm on, how does the worm stay on the hook with these??? The worms seems to pull off when you slide it over the offset part. Quote
