LAO162 Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 So I'm going to put Yo-Zuri Ultra Soft #6 on the first spool of my spinning outfit. Other than more YZUS #6, what should I consider putting on the spare spool? Leon Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 10, 2007 Super User Posted March 10, 2007 14 or 20 lb. braid. Quote
LAO162 Posted March 10, 2007 Author Posted March 10, 2007 I was thinking about going the other direction. I've never used anything over 8lb. Also, its only a MF spinning out rated 4-12lbs Quote
Super User FishTank Posted March 11, 2007 Super User Posted March 11, 2007 You might try to determine your fishing needs and go from their. If you fish, heavy cover then maybe some 20-30lb braid (Sufix or PowerPro). Or you could try my favorite P-Line Floroclear 10lb or P-Line Evolution both are similar to Yo-Zuri. They will work for just about anything. Quote
sal669 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 15-20 lb Power Pro. Start with some mono, than spool the PP.I tie 2-4 feet of fluoro or mono leader than the bait. It's a blast, super sensitive. Quote
LAO162 Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Looks like I should definately be moving up if I'm going into heavy cover Any suggestions for "finesse" applications? Quote
Lard_Bass Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 What did you end up doing? I just got a spare spool myself and debating the same thing. I am going to load up one with #6 Yo-Zuri Ultrasoft but didn't know if I should go lighter or heavier. I know Roadwarrior swears by this stuff. I was thinking of going 10# (average break is 16.5) or 12# (19.5) Yo-Zuri Ultrasoft for some slop conditions (or is braid a better way to go?). Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted March 13, 2007 Super User Posted March 13, 2007 I suggest going lighter. Although I recommend #6 to everyone because I want them to have the additional margin of strength that it offers, I fish #4 on my main smallmouth rod. Both of the fish in my avatar were landed on #4. I have NEVER been broke off by a fish using it, either. Quote
LAO162 Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 Thanks RW, that's what I have been thinking. I might even make #4 my primary for most of my fishing. Now, I just have to find it locally so I can pick it up and run. I'm afraid if I order on-line from Cabela's I'll end up with a package much bigger than a couple spools of line ;D Leon Quote

I placed a Cabela's order for some 6# ultra soft, and a bunch of other stuff came in the box with it! ;D ;D Quote
