Tenka Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 ... for light and ultra light applications, i know about the pixy but the extra $100+ puts it out of my price range. looking for hands on opinions please. Thanks Dave Quote
Anglin Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 i own the the sol and its definately worth the money. Its silky smooth and casts the lightest lures i own a country mile. i cast 1/8 ounce lures with absolutely no problem. the only thing i dont like about it is the fact that it doesnt have a clicking drag star like the curado, For the applications you need it for i would still go with the sol Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 12, 2007 Super User Posted March 12, 2007 The Sol is better light & UL caster than the Curado, but the ultimate finesse baitcaster for bass applications has a different name ---> PIXY. Quote
The_Natural Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Pixy's can be bought all day long from Brooklyn Bill for $270 shipped. I have two Pixies, and they are just unreal. Quote
foul hooked Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 Don't count out the TD-Fuego. I throw 1/8 oz jigs all the time. You need the proper rod though, I use a 6'6' Compre med xfast. The xfast tip is the ticket for casting light baits. Isn't it great to have multiple options on quality gear. Quote
Tenka Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Thanks for the reply guys! I've read about the PIXY, and i know it is the best for what i'm trying to put together, i just don't think the better half will let me swing the extra money to cover the cost. i got the $200 range down, but that extra $70+ is going to be very hard. I still have to get the rod to match it, too. This will be my first $400+ setup, too bad the purchase date keeps getting pushed back farther and farther. Quote
Super User Raul Posted March 12, 2007 Super User Posted March 12, 2007 Go for the Sol, is an outstanding light lure reel. Quote
tipptruck1 Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 I have the curado and it seems like it cast small lures better then spinning reels. I never used any of the daiwas so i can't saw any thing aobut them. But I use my curado more for throwing senkos all the time. Quote
