If your putting the whole $100 into the rod i would say a St.Croix premier. I have one of theese and I am very satisfied with it, great sensitivity, ultra light and just point blank a good buy. I also own a BPS Extreme rod also, and again it is a good rod but I would def go with a St.Croix premier.

I am a fan of falcon rods. They make a quality rod at a reasonable price but it is also hard to beat a st. croix rod. I would go with whichever one fits your style of fishing the most.

Between those brands i'm partial to falcon or shimano i love the feeling of my Shimano Compre but you can't go wrong with any of them

Of the ones listed, I would go with the Falcon Lowrider.   I've fished with them since 1998 and had great luck with them.   I did break my 6'6" MH worm rod, but they replaced it and it's replacement has been doing fine since 2001.

At one time I was a big fan of BPS rods, but lately it seems to me the quality isn't what it once was.    My buds and I have broken more than a few of them and many of them just seem sloppy.    When the Extreme is on sale for $59, they aren't a bad buy but IMO I don't think they are worth anywhere near their $99 retail.

I'd take the Compre...I think they fish like a more expensive rod, and feel they are the lightest and most balanced of the bunch.  I will post rod weights of the rods in contention to help aid in your decision.  The Compre is a great rod at a great price, with a tremedous warranty.  Oh, and the newly redesigned black blank looks sweet to boot  8-).  I will say that I think it is an extremely close race between the Compre, Premier, and the Lowrider.

Another vote for the Compre!! I use all Compre's and Crucial's, they are hard to beat for price and warranty (lifetime). JMHO

I have some All Stars and they never let me down but I also am well aware that shimano and more importantly St Croix are great rod makers...

I'd be leaning towards the All Star or the Compre. Both are excellent rods for the money. In fact, all of your choices are excellent values... I just like these two best of the bunch.  I suspect the St. Croix is right there also but I've not used that model.

Yes, Compre or All Star. It's a toss up.  You'll be happy either way.

I love the Falcon rods.  Have one of the originals and it's been stellar.  I'm also a Shimano lover..I have Compre's and Crucial's and think they are outstanding (you cannot beat their warranty).  When I make my choice, I usually take the rods I'm interested in and compare them side by side.  Compare weights and feel in your hand, look at the details in construction (reel seat, number of guides and quality of the wrap (I prefer single foot guides as they stand up better to the occasional mishap).....then look at the price.  Sometimes you'll be surprised that a less expensive rod will feel better and have a better build quality than the more expensive rods.

Good luck and enjoy your purchase.

I'm in the same boat, going to spend around $100 on a rod in a few weeks, and I took my reel with me to BPS to see how each rod felt - still not really sure, I'm going to test it again when I purchase it, but I think matching your specific reel with the rod is important as well.
