tipptruck1 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Iam not kiding. He was shark fishing and he said he was useing 50lb power pro. I first iam thinking berkely dosn't make 50lb braid. After a few minnutes I got thinking yes they do. So I watched the rest of the show and saw that he picked up bass pro as a new sponsor. He also had the triton wraped in camo with the words versus on the side.
Super User Redlinerobert Posted March 7, 2007 Super User Posted March 7, 2007 ;D If you give Roland enough money, he'd hawk his own grandmother. 2
BassChaser57 Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 That is one guy that I simply can't watch. I watch fishing shows to hopefully learn something useful. I already know how to put on sunscreen and put on a rainsuit so there are lots of better things to do with my time than watch his program.
bocabasser Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 he is famous for his "4,5,6,7,8, pounder" quote. and it is a 3 pounder. 1
Super User Catt Posted March 7, 2007 Super User Posted March 7, 2007 Dang I'll have to quit using Power Pro now 1
deadeye32. Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 roland is hilarious, I cant stand watching his sponsor plugs every 2 seconds and watching his wife talk is even worse but I cant seem to change it when he comes on absoultely rediculous. It would be funny however to see roland keep the unoffical weights at these tournaments, guys would be coming in with 50 lb limits every tournament.
fish-fighting-illini Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Same here. His show is my least favorite but I love bass fishing so much I watch it anyway! His kid might be a nice person but his show is even worse. Not so much for the hawking his kid at least seems to teach but every other word is "dude" and to me he comes off as obnoxious. Probably an age thing but still better than watching non fishing.
Super User .ghoti. Posted March 7, 2007 Super User Posted March 7, 2007 Roland Martin was using power pro. Who cares? He'll endorse anything, if the money's there.
RockvilleMDAngler Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Wasn't Roland the first one to endorse the Helicopter lure? I can't stand watching him peddle gear on his show but I do watch because of how hilarious he can be interacting with guests. He always claims to have the biggest fish of the trip and he will make snide comments when the guest catches a big one. It's great when he gets someone on the show that he has nothing in common with (like the Asian fiddle player he had on a week or two ago) because he will act like they are the best of friends but he won't let the other person get a line in unless it is about how "cool" his sunscreen/trolling motor/BPS shirt/frogg toggs/Spro lure/sunglasses/hooks/boat are. It is one of the unintenionally funniest shows of all time. I love it when he calls polarized glasses "polaroid" (like they are gonna snap a picture or something) and when he calls gamakatsu "gamagatzoo." 1
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted March 7, 2007 Super User Posted March 7, 2007 It is one of the unintenionally funniest shows of all time. I couldn't agree more. I liked when he had Gary Yamamoto on one time. Some of the expressions on Gary's face were priceless. Also he had a guest on and they were Grouper (sp?) fishing. I think just about anybody would let their guest have first shot at the first fish ..... nope, not Roland. Soon as that first pole went down, he raced to it. His guest eventually ended up catching one, but guess who's was bigger : ;D ;D ;D
justfishin Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Wow, I will bet that the new pop gun lure launcher whobobbie thing he endorses loaded with Power Pro would shoot a gitzit about two zip codes away. ;D

Roland's no different than anyone else, if YOU could capitalize on benefits of being YOU, You would too. He's actually a great guy and doesn't mind sharing.
