Super User FishTank Posted March 2, 2007 Super User Posted March 2, 2007 My favorite is my Shimano Calais 201A and G. Loomis MBR 783C with 50lb PowerPro. For lighter weight cranks I use a Shimano Curado 201SF and a BPS Johnny Morris M 7ft rod with 10lb P-Line Floroclear. If the weather is bad, I use a Quantum Energy Pti 20 with a 6ft ML St. Croix Avid, line is based on the water conditions. My favorite crankbaits are the Lucky Craft flat minis and Rapala DT series. bassin_man Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Am I the only fan of the new Crucial crankbait rods? Shimano Crucial 7' Medium(for shallow cranks) or Medium Heavy(deep cranks). Try to make sure its the new crankbait series with TC4 construction. I feel that these rods are a great buy for the money and worth more than they charge. Shimano Curado with 6.2:1 Then thinking of putting some either 10 or 12# Yo-Zori Hybrid Ultra Soft this year. Quote
RockvilleMDAngler Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I use a Loomis cbr843 (7' M action crankbait rod) with a Curado 101D 6.3.1 Quote
Infidel. Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I use a Lew's Speed spool 5 to1 on a 7ft TD-S crankbait rod. I use 10lb Cuda line when I am fun/pre fishing and 15lb when I am fishing for money. I'm suprised that no one else posted that they use a Speed Spool. I know I'm not the only old school cranker on here. Quote
Bass1 Posted March 4, 2007 Posted March 4, 2007 I have two. 1) Shimano Curado 200DPV 5.0:1 on a MH Shimano Compre 6'6" rod and spooled with 10 lb big game (but to be re-spooled with Yo-zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #12 as soon as my order from Cabelas arrives). For use with deep-divers like DT-16, K-4, Mad Pepper, Down Deep Fat Rap. 2) Shimano Curado 100D 6.2:1 on a M Fenwick HMG 6'6" rod and spooled with Yo-zuri Hybrid Ultra Soft #10 (also to be re-spooled to #12). For use with medium cranks like Jointed Shad Rap, K-3, Hardcore LB-90. Quote
lubina Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Custom Seeker 706 in e-glass with a Tica 5.1:1 and CX 12 lbs for deep cranking. LC Moosault and CB, Rapala DT and Shad Rad and Norman 22. For shallow cranking I like graphite and one of the best out there is the Helium LTA ML. I use a Daiwa Alpha F with 10 lbs Gamma for now, probably Evolution is my next move. Lures, Griffon MR is hard to bit, Cyclone and the new LC GDS Quote
