I know we all have our favorites, but in the past 6 weeks I have fished nothing but senkos/kinami flashes.

I did mix in alternatives here and there, with notably less luck.

Im a Massachusetts Basser and I had the best 6 weeks of bass fishing in my life.

Catching both quantity and quality I wish I knew about Senkos earlier.

I fished mainly 4" senkos smoke/grape  baby bass flashes and some 5" black blue fleck.weightless on a 1/0 ewg hook

I also had luck on some pearl colored ones(dont recall the correct name)

in the span of 3 weeks I got one 5lbs and one 6lbs off the same downed peice of timber on a small local pond. 6lbs being my personal best for a largemouth.( i have only caught 3lm in total over 5lbs)

I'd like to thank the excellent anglers of this site which has indeed made me a better angler.

sorry for the rant,im just pumped and this season has been better than I ever thought possible!

The one downfall to the senko isnt cost nor durability, they are well worth imho the price of admission, the single downfall is now i dont have any faith in any other lure and feel like im wasting time!

weightless,slackline, absolutely lethal! ;)

edit: i did some river sm fishing with them and they were also effective there as well, but im green on the river and sometimes its really tough for me to pick up takes in a current with these.

I'll second that.  I've caught more bass on senkos than any other lure or plastic by FAR.  My pb is also on a senko at a local lake.  Weightless, texas rigged, weedless, wacky, you name it, the senko just catches fish.  It is an amazing bait that you can use all year long due to the great falling action.  You should try the swim senko if your not a patient worm fisher or get tired of just dead sticking or slow fishing.  The swim senko adds another element to your fishing as it lets you slowly reel it in like a swimbait.  I've had many catches on the twitch or slow reel method with this bait.  GO GYCB!!!

Well, I agree! However, I fish the 6" version, the 5" Senko catches too many fish. For the past few years the Fat Ika has actually produced bigger bass for me. Same presentation, just a different profile. (Largemouth and smallmouth in still water).

You might want to give it a try. :;)

Some other soft plastics that I have just started fishing this year with good results are the Kreature, Swimming Senko and Mattlures Baby Bass. The GYCB Kut-Tail has always been a producer, weighted in deeper water and the Micro Munch El Gordo tube is another soft plastic that I highly recommend.

A lethal weapon is one that never needs to be REPLACED .The only one i can think of is a strike king ZERO .A senko is a weapon but a delicate one... one head shake and its gone  :;)

This is not always true if you rig it wacky and put the hook through twiced it will stay on for a good while. I have gone all day catching several fish with the same senko.

I fully disagree it's just another plastic bait in a long line of plastic baits but I do believe its one that will be around for years. My thoughts are based on the fact that I know dozens of people who have had little or no luck with this bait me included. I know the first thing y'all gonna say is I aint throwing in the right places well I say name me a better place than Toledo Bend?

Good point, Catt.  The senko is definitely a staple for many fisherman.  But I will bet not many here remember how the Mann's Jellyworm absolutely dominated for so many years.  The Culprit (or Bandit for you Toledo Tackle junkies) also enjoyed this kind of fanfare in the early 80s.  Just wait til people start catching them on soft plastic "cubes". ;D ;D

Just wait till fall kicks in, and especially spring. To be having a good summer is tough, but sounds like the senko gave that to you. Just wait till spring, you'll have a blast.

Mann 's Jelly Worms KICK ARSE !!!!, they kicked arse back then, they kick arse now and will keep on kicking arse for the next couple of milennia or 'til hell freezes over.

I still use Mann's Jelly Worms and they still rock for sure!

The *** Salty *** accounted for just about 40% of the fish i have taken in the last 2 years. This after the first couple of months using them and nothing

They are of equal importance to the invention of the plastic worm in my book!

I thought that was very funny and a great point!

I like Senkos styled baits (Tiki Sticks are the best I think), but my 'most lethal' baits are the Mepps Fury #3, the Zoom Trick Worm, Bandit cranks, Black buzzbaits and a White/Green Terminator spinnerbait.  If I strike out on all of those, I'll throw a Senko on.  I'll make myself feel better by catching 3 or 4 dinks, then switch back to a better bait.  For whatever I only catch the smaller fish on stickbaits.  My nicest fish come on more traditional baits, and every fish over 6 pounds for me have all come on the other five lures, buzzbaits getting me my PB.

I fish a small lake in my subdivision 3 or 4 times a week.  Old lake and the fish have plenty to eat and catching bass is tough.  I saw some 4 inch blue Senkos on sale at a tackle shop and bought a pack.  Rigged weightless and tossed from the bank right past the pads or into an old tree top, they have produced like no other plastic I have used.  I will catch a fish and if the worm is torn, I will just hook it from the other end and catch another and then if both ends are torn, I hook it in the center wacky style. Also these things are great for bank fishing because of the added weight of them helps in getting some casting distance when not using weights.  Great plastic. I don't go fishing without them.

I'm glad some of you mentioned Culprits and the Manns Jelly Worm, remember the Auger tail? I have caught a ton of bass on senkos but my biggest were on tubes and trick worms. I think everyone says they catch a ton of fish on them because thats all they use. I fished a tx a year ago with a guy and all I used were senkos and he used and old school black and blue paddle tail worm and triple limited, won the tournament and the jack pot and I caught zilch. So now I try not to get to reliant on this majical bait.

This is a question for RW do you think its possible for bass to wise up to this bait? I know in California bass get spooky when a lot of the same baits are thrown.

I think Senko's are great baits, and i catch more fish on them then anything else. However I think that many people fall into the trap of only fishing these, and thinking that if they aren't working then the fish aren't biting. In my experiance I've found that most days that the fish will bite the Senko, mostly watermelon w/ black fleck. However on those days when they aren't i try something totally different, spinnerbaits, rapala floating minnows, Topwater frogs. And in the end I find what the fish want for that day.

Senko's are great, just don't live and die by them, otherwise you'll be missing out on some of the best fishing days of your life when all the fish want is a white spinnerbait etc....

AGREED 100%, well stated. When they started working for me, I fell right into the trap and it was all i fished for a while. I got off that jag! Now I have been working on some jiggin and crankin this year and IT HAS PAID OFF!!!!!!

Hmm...

I fish other lures for fun and to be a "versatile" fisherman. I NEVER take a soft plastic to my ponds if I'm fishing another lure/ technique. I PREFER fishing a number of hard baits and I'm trying to become Mr. Jig. BUT...if it were just about "catching bass" I would fish nothing but soft plasics at least 80% of the time. I think I could fish nothing but these lures/ baits and catch 150% of the largemouth bass I currently catch: Fat Ika, 6" Senko, El Gordo tube, Kreature, Swimming Senko and Kut-Tail.
