krisjack69 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Fireline is tough to cut using scissors and fingernail clippers and my needlenose plier I just want to know is there a special tool or something that I can use to cut fireline. Quote
Super User burleytog Posted March 2, 2007 Super User Posted March 2, 2007 Try sharper scissors. Go to the crafts section of your local Wal Mart (or other discount store) and get a pair of small Fiskars sewing scissors. I carry a pair of Chicago Cutlery kitchen shears that do a good job of cutting braid. Quote
JT Bagwell Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 Fiskars (I am pretty sure thats the brand) makes a pair of scissors for braided line. They are in the tackle section at Wal-Mart for $2-$3. JT Bagwell Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted March 2, 2007 Super User Posted March 2, 2007 My needlenose pliers work fine and allow me to carry one less tool. Maybe you should buy a new pliers? Quote
Fish Man Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 i personally have never used fireline but my friend uses it an he said that he has some sort of fingernail clippers that work really well Quote
Super User Grey Wolf Posted March 2, 2007 Super User Posted March 2, 2007 Go to the craft section at Wal-Mart. They have a small pair of titanium scissors made by Westcott. Those should do the job. Quote
bow3022 Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I carry a utility folding knife with me. Scisscors are a pain, nailclippers are to weak. Cuts through braid, well in this case fireline with ease. Quote
Infidel. Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I heard you just need to chew on it for a while Quote
NEBassMan Posted March 2, 2007 Posted March 2, 2007 I bought the Rapala set of needle nose pliers and scissors. the scissors cut the fireline great. http://www.rapala.com/products/accessoriesdetail.cfm?name=Super%20Line%20Scissors&category=ProGuide%20Tool%20Series Jason Quote
Super User FishTank Posted March 3, 2007 Super User Posted March 3, 2007 I use a pair of Fiscars Kids scissors. They work great and are small enough to fit a tackle box. Quote
Super User Marty Posted March 3, 2007 Super User Posted March 3, 2007 I also use Fiskars Kids Scissors, which were on sale for $1. But there are many companies that put out special scissors for superlines and they will probably all work well. Quote
