pittbassfishing Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Hey everyone i was wondering where i could find a good rod with the revolving guides. who makes any? Quote
Super User Sam Posted February 27, 2007 Super User Posted February 27, 2007 OK Pitt Bass, Have you been drinking too much Lemon Blend? Or, have I been eating too much Virginia ham because I have never heard about revolving guides. What are they and how do they work? Thanks. Quote
Super User KU_Bassmaster. Posted February 27, 2007 Super User Posted February 27, 2007 ;D ;D You know, convert from casting to spinning in a matter of seconds. ;D ;D I think he is talking about recoil guides. The only ones I have heard that have them are a certain Loomis line. There could be more out there. I don't know??? Quote
Super User Alpster Posted February 27, 2007 Super User Posted February 27, 2007 I think he means spiral wrapped. As far as I know you can only get them custom made. Reelmech can do this. Ronnie Quote
pittbassfishing Posted February 27, 2007 Author Posted February 27, 2007 Gary Klein Model: Eight feet of complete control when flipping into heavy cover. Revolving guides prevent the line from ever coming into contact with the rod blank. And the parabolic bend is perfect for the braided line fisherman. The spiral around is what i am talking about and i seen them and was think bout getting one. and it said it on the website so i wasnt for sure what it was called and the picture doesent show the eyes of the rod. Thanks for you help. Quote
Guest DavidGreen Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Yup that is the only spiral wrapped rod Quantum® puts out. I have not seen it so I don't know what style of spiral they used, O-Quinn, Revolver, Simple, etc. Tight Lines!! Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 do these theories apply to spinning also? Quote
Super User Redlinerobert Posted February 28, 2007 Super User Posted February 28, 2007 Megabass Crank bait rod. $375. Quote
Super User Alpster Posted February 28, 2007 Super User Posted February 28, 2007 do these theories apply to spinning also? Spinning rods already have the guides on the bottom of the rod. Ronnnie Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 OK. I thought the spiral wrap was more about laying the eyes on the spline (for a truer, better braced flex) than position of the reel. Quote
Guest DavidGreen Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I sure wish everyone here with a question on rod splines would do a search on the RBO board. You will find (2000 pages) on the subject, that the splineing of a rod isn't as important as it has been made out to be. In fact many of the old timers are calling a rod spline and the importance of the spline a myth. I have built two 3C70MHF blanks (spiraled), one I splined, and one had a bend so I wrapped with the bend down (did not spline). They both cast the same, and have the same backbone and stability that I would expect from a spiral wrap. So as a person who is hard to convince, I am starting to think that all of the talk lately on the RBO board isn't just talk. The spline of a rod blank is just as said, "it's an effect created by several manufacturing anomalies". The result is that the rod blank will favor bending along a particular axis when load is applied. But is not a necessity to find. Just my .02¢ Tight Lines All! Quote
links_man2 Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 You might want to check out www.texassidewinderrods.com. Kit makes good rods and stands behind them 100%. Quote
Guest avid Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I think the photo redline posted looks like a $500 rod built by a guy on crack. I may be wrong. Quote
