Super User eyedabassman Posted February 27, 2007 Super User Posted February 27, 2007 I would like to get some input on these rods. I was thinking of picking up a few for tubes or small worms ect. I think they are like $ 50.00 but can you feel the bite with these rods? I am looking at 7' MH and a M action. :-/ :-/ Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 27, 2007 Super User Posted February 27, 2007 If you want to try a Fenwick, I suggest you buy one Techna AV instead of "a few" Eagle GTs. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Really great rods for the money The first "good" rods I ever used were the Fenwick Gt's and Venturas I have now used the HMX and HMG all great rods and i just bought a used TECHNIA AV Im gonna use that soon at THE FORK for the first time. Anything I have used with a Fenwick name on it has exceeded all expectations Quote
LAO162 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 As a teen in the 80's Fenwick was the brand that we all dreamed about getting. muddy_mann, I think I've seen that you are also a fan of the BPS Extreme. Where would guys place the Extreme relative to the Fenwick line-up. Thanks! Quote
ksdog Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 I can't comment on the size rod you are interested in, but I recently picked up a fenwick eagle gt 4'9" UL for my crappie dock rod. Never owned a fenwick before, but for the specific use I bought this rod for...it excels. A friend has just ordered one and another is thinking about getting one. For the price, and a 5 yr. warranty, I'd say it is a real decent rod. Quote
Guest the_muddy_man Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 iD SAY THE bps EXTREME IS COMPRABLE IN FEEL AND SUCH TO THE hmx Quote
LAO162 Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Thanks for the info on the Extreme. BTW, I have a Fenwick Eagle from around 1994. It is a 5' UL. It was a lot of fun with trout, but definately not for anything larger. Cheers! Quote
Super User burleytog Posted February 27, 2007 Super User Posted February 27, 2007 If it's all you've got to spend, they are well worth it. Can't beat a $50-60 rod with a 5 year warranty. Quote
Hawgin Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 The first Fenwick I bought was an Eagle GT. I thought it was a very light and sensitive rod. The only thing I didn't like about it was the guides felt kinda cheap. I have since upgraded to Techna AV's, but I didn't get rid of my GT until just last week when I sold it to a friend. It is the best $50 rod you will ever buy, and it will make you want more of their rods. Quote
