Super User Raul Posted September 4, 2007 Super User Posted September 4, 2007 Go to Tackleunderground and enter in the soft plastics section, there 's huge bunch of custom pourers that can do it for you, there 's a guy with the nick Bassb8 ( if I remember well ) that makes wonderful and beautiful pours. Also check the gallery most of them upload pics of their creations and many of them sell baits. Quote
Siebert Outdoors Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 Well it could be done. The problem is the taper of the bait. But here is how you would do it. 1 Buy some beavers or similiar style you like 2 take one as the lure you will modify 3. use the other ones to cut out sections of the ribbed body and match them all up. 4. Glue all of the pieces together to where it gives you a good outline 5. Make a 2 piece plaster mold and cut vent holes 6. Epoxy the inside of the mold 7. pour in your plastic Thats how it would be done. Btw it is an excellant idea. 8-) PS Senkosam is probably one of the best at modifying lures that I have seen. He has some awsome creations. Quote
NJfishinGuy Posted September 4, 2007 Author Posted September 4, 2007 gman, i see what your saying about adding sections to it but that would only solve the length problem, id like the bait to be larger in proportion width wise not just length Quote
Guest whittler Posted September 4, 2007 Posted September 4, 2007 I had a similar question a few weeks ago when looking for someone who pours plastic to make a tail for a crankbait I was working on. Had no luck finding anyone who could pour it, seems most do not inject plastic but just pour in open molds. I also wanted a plastic without salt and stiffer than regular worms. My solution was to make a wooden master then a plaster mold which could also be used to inject the plastic right in the mold. Like you I did not want to buy a lot of supplies that I would never use just to get a few tails. The bait pictured has some old plastic worms melted to test the idea. Quote

The problem I would see with it is the plastic balling up on the hook then you miss fish. If you want we/you can come up with something. I'd be interested in that bait too. A place I fish a 6" beaver style would be awsome. BTW I think I might have just thought of a solution depending on how thick your talking about. I have a single sided beaver mold. If I join them together it will give a slightly larger profile then a regular beaver. The problem will lie in the appendages and getting them centered on the bait. Quote
NJfishinGuy Posted September 4, 2007 Author Posted September 4, 2007 well as it is now i we use a 6/0 ewg hook, i think it might accommodate a larger version still. the 5.2 is an awesome flipping bait and i think some really big hogs will come on a larger one because i am able to catch bass 10" long on the double wides so i can only imagine what a 8lber could eat lol Quote
Bassin_Cowboy Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 I have a next door neighbor that MAY be able to help with this. He showed me a few of his versions of this lure to me just a couple of hours ago. I'll mention the request and see what he says. Quote
NJfishinGuy Posted September 5, 2007 Author Posted September 5, 2007 cool, cant wait to hear back Quote
Bassin_Cowboy Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Haven't forgotten your request. I'll be going with him Thursday morning so he can pre-fish a lake for a tourney just to see how accurate the reports are concenring this lake. I'll talk with him while on our way and if he thinks he can help you out, I'll PM you his name and number. He doesn't have a website available just yet so you won't find him on the net. He's just recently started building his customer base but having talked with him and have recently cast a few of his versions or styles, I'm pretty impressed with them so far. Quote
