Rod Line Up Help

I've decided I will buy two rods to add to what I already have. A MH-Fast and a M-Moderate. Texas Rig and cranking rod.

 

I went to my place at the lake and forgot I had bought (4) 6'6'' MH-Fast rods last year for trolling. They have Abu Revo4 baitcasters on them. They are identical, see below. 

 

What I'm looking for is; what # and type of line should I spool each rod, and what should I use each rod for starting off? I'm hoping I can use one of the casting rods for top water? Or should they all basically be single hook bottom rods?

 

Casting Rods:

Spinning Rods:

The line choice should be dictated by type/amount of cover and the technique being used. 

One of the 6’6” rods would be fine to throw medium to large topwater baits. I use 10 or 12lb monofilament for topwaters, and that’s what I recommend to people for topwater fishing. 
 

6’6” MH-F rods are versatile. Spinnerbaits, T-rigs, and jigs can also be used effectively with these rod specs. I use 30-40lb braid to a 25lb fluorocarbon leader for these techniques. You dont necessarily need a leader, and lots of people just use straight braid. 
 

For the spinning rods, while I personally never use braid on spinning gear, it’s the general consensus around here of much better fishermen than I that braid is the way to go. Probably something no heavier than 20lb. Both those rods would make fine finesse rods. I use a rod similar to the 7’1” for wacky rigs and similar to that 7”3’ is my dedicated drop shot rig.

I'd probably spool one with 15 lb fluoro, one with 20 lb fluoro, one with 50-65 braid, and one with mono.

 

The fluoro rods could be used as a second t-rig/jig rod or with baits like chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, swimbaits, or other single hook moving baits.

 

The braid rod would be primarily for buzzbaits, but you might be able to throw a frog as well. 

 

The last one would be mono or another braid depending on what you usually fish. If you fish a lot of dense weeds, I'd go 40-50 lb braid for those single hook moving baits. If you don't fish a ton of cover, I'd go mono so you have a little bit more stretch if you wanted to throw cranks, spooks, traps, etc.
