I’m looking for a trolling motor for my new Bass Pro Shops Pond Prowler 10. I don’t want to spend $300+ on one so I’ve been looking for good used ones. I just saw a Motor Guide RX3 46lb thrust for $50, the guy said it came off his 12ft Jon boat and works well. I’m thinking I want at least a 45lb thrust as I’m a bit on the large size at 265lb, plus gear and occasionally my wife or teenage son would be with me so there could potentially be 400+ pounds of humans on board. I’ve been looking at the Minn Kote EnduraMax 55lb thrust but it’s hard to find many that are much cheaper than retail, I also see Newport Zvessel advertise a ton and they are about $100 cheaper than the Minn Kota but are they any good? I’m open to suggestions 😀.

I have a 45lb Motorguide on my 16' tin bassboat and fish rivers.  I've never not been able to go upstream so go for it.

I had the Minn Kota 55lb EnduraMax and it worked well when I had my Pond Prowler. Had a 30 lb on it before that and it wasn’t enough going into the wind. I’d find a used Minn Kota before I’d buy a brand new off brand trolling motor.

Try contacting your local Trolling Motor repair shop, they often have repaired motors that are abandoned by the owners.
