Punkern8r Posted Wednesday at 12:30 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:30 AM What lure/bait did you catch your personal best Bass with? I'll go first. I caught my personal best Largemouth Bass weighing 4lbs 7oz back in 06/2018 with a Zoom Ol' Monster Junebug Worm on a Texas Rig with a 3/16 oz bullet weight. Bonus points if you include a picture of the lure or your PB. I haven't been able to find the pictures I have of my PB otherwise I would include them on this post. Let's see them! 6 Quote
Super User king fisher Posted Wednesday at 02:53 AM Super User Posted Wednesday at 02:53 AM It's a tie 6th. Sense mini mag. Square bill and a Junebug Zoom Magnum Trick worm. First bass caught on the square bill was 10.3 pounds weighed on a defective scale, the second bass caught on a worm was 10.8 pounds weighed on two trustworthy scales. The first bass was shorter than the second, but had way bigger shoulders and I think was the biggest bass I have ever seen. The second bass was an inch longer, had recently spawned had a bloody tail, and was thin. I think the first bass was bigger but have to go with an official weight, so the second bass is my PB at 10.8 pounds. 18 Quote

Pat Brown Posted Wednesday at 12:18 PM Posted Wednesday at 12:18 PM 11 lb 5 oz (pic is my profile pic) on a Berkeley Power Worm 10.5" in motor oil red with a pegged 3/8 oz tungsten sinker and a offset worm hook on a mainlake point around 1 pm in mid July. I've caught a lot of fish between 8 and 10. Most of them on jigs, frogs and lipless crankbaits. 10 Quote

Super User Catt Posted Wednesday at 12:54 PM Super User Posted Wednesday at 12:54 PM February 3rd 2007 was a nasty cold morning with Northwest winds at 15-20 mph, a slight misty rain falling, and temperatures in the middle 30's. After having launched out of Jack's 944 Marina I made the short (2 minutes) run to the mouth of Bull creek trying to stay out of the wind and some what warm. Having rounded the corner I dropped the trolling motor, picked up my Rat-L-Trap rod again with the thought in mind of keeping moving and staying warm. My third cast was into the mouth a cut leading to a boat shed which I knew had stumps on the west side, after turning the handle 4 or 5 time my trap stopped solid, I tell Pat d**n to close to the stumps so I push the trolling motor handle towards the mouth of the cut while stepping on the switch. At the exact same instance my line starts zinging towards deeper water rod all bowed up & drag slipping; I immediately scream at Pat get the net. By now the boat is moving off to my left the bass is moving off to my right and I'm nearly on my knees in front of the console with the upper third of the rod in the water. Pat net in hand is now on the front deck killed the trolling motor and with a swift motion netted the hawg; which ends up weighing in at 12 pounds 8 ounces. 13 Quote

Tom If any one would know how big a bass is it would be Tom. I wish I had a good scale that day. The wind was blowing 25 MPH when I caught the bass. I didn't have a cell phone, but had a regular camera. I tried to get a selfie with the camera, but it was difficult with the wind and no screen to look at. After a couple failed attempts of taking a selfie, my kayak was blown to shore. I decided to jump on to the bank with fish, lay it on the ground, place the tape on the bass take a quick picture and get the bass back in the water. If only I had been more prepared I might have some good pictures and know for sure what my PB is. The bass was never out of the water for more than 30 seconds. I kept putting it back in the water in-between trying to get a weight and pictures. It swam off as soon as I put it back in the lake. I don't know how long a bass lives, but I sure would like to catch that bass again. 6 Quote

Super User MassYak85 Posted Wednesday at 03:30 PM Super User Posted Wednesday at 03:30 PM I am cursed with tying PBs. For a loooong time I was stuck at 5.40 on the dot. I caught 3 fish at that weight on: 1) Green Pumpkin Wacky Rigged BPS Stickbait 2) Lethal Weapon Swim Jig 3) 9" Trout MS Slammer I broke it on at 5-11 on a Bl8nkt Red Spinnerbait Then I broke it again with a 6-4 using a brown 3pc PB Rat....only to tie it at 6-4 again, with a black 1pc Monka Crawler 7 Quote

Super User OkobojiEagle Posted Wednesday at 04:20 PM Super User Posted Wednesday at 04:20 PM Fun post to get me to reminisce. I don't carry anything that will photograph when I fish, but I do remember many of my better sized catches and pretty much every one of them came on hair/hare jigs I tied. 4 - 20"+ smallmouth, 2 - 22" largemouth, 31" walleye, several (wonderful fighting) drum, 1 catfish I couldn't lift out of the water, and at least 4 musky that measured 42"+. I remember the thrill each of them gave me. I do collect and fish other lures as well, but that little jig category has out produced every other lure for size... by far; go figure. Thank you Phil Schafer for teaching me how to tie your marabou, bucktail and rabbit zonker minnow pattern. I do miss our conversations... oe 8 Quote

WaskaCrank12 Posted Wednesday at 06:18 PM Posted Wednesday at 06:18 PM Smallmouth Bass above was caught with a Megabass Griffon MR-X in GG Baby Bass color My PB Largemouth was just shy of 20 inches and caught on a Netbaits Paca Chunk Sr. in Sun Gill color on a 1/16oz CORE Tackle Hover Rig (if I can find the pic I will post it) **I have purchased a cheaper scale and will look at using that this coming season as it seems weight is preferred over measuring ? 1 Quote
