ike8120 Posted April 1 Posted April 1 I have been using KVD for a few years now on all my lines. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/search-tackle.html?start=0&count=20&searchtext=KVD+Line+Conditioner Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted April 1 Global Moderator Posted April 1 KVD for years. Including on heavier braids (#50, #60 and #80) I also use it on all skirts. I helps to keep them pliable and separated Mike Quote
JHoss Posted April 1 Posted April 1 Ordered a bottle of the KVD stuff thanks to all the advice here. Guess I'll see what I've been missing. Found an old *** article about it and the author claimed 20% increase in casting distance... wouldn't that be great. 1 Quote

I'll spray it on my mono too. I feel like a kid who discovers pizza at the age of 16. And all the other kids are saying, "You've never eaten pizza? Not once? You have missed the train, girl!" 1 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted April 1 Super User Posted April 1 I use KVD on all my baitcasters with mono or hybrid. As mentioned in another thread 😆 I rig my rods the night before a trip, and I spray each spool. I release the spool and let a little line out and make sure I spray the spool 360°. Does it make a difference? Compared to the past before I used it, I’d say so. It seems to keep the line more supple. 1 Quote

Pizza tastes better than KVD line conditioner. Don't ask me how I know. 2 Quote

After 21 days of 1.75 oz shots you'll crave it and you clothes will slide ride off you body. Don't ask me how I know. Their Not for Human Consumption is just to CYA.😁 5 Quote

I think it was ardent line butter or something and it separated all the strands and pretty much ate up the braid so I’ve never tried line conditioner on a braid again. I threw out the bottle right away and never again. Now I use Reel Snot or KVD. Whatever I can get ahold of. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted Thursday at 01:12 PM Global Moderator Posted Thursday at 01:12 PM I only use it on those heavier lines (only time I use braid) which are all Original Power Pro It helps with casting distance on the #50 which is only for frogs (recently changed to Smackdown) I use it on the 2 others (which are solely for flipping and pitching) as it helps the line come off much smoother which gives me an extra few feet when pitching. A very minor benefit is it helps retain the lines color Mike 2 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted Thursday at 09:51 PM Super User Posted Thursday at 09:51 PM I use KVD line conditioner. I change my fluorocarbon every three years or so, when it gets low and mono once or twice a year it keeps my line behaving well and is quite effective. I’ve never tried it on braid. 1 1 Quote

It does help when you get up in the higher strengths especially with the 4 carrier original Power Pro I use. Not so much on the lower end with an 8 carrier Mike 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted Thursday at 10:22 PM Super User Posted Thursday at 10:22 PM Mono is nylon and hygroscopic meaning it absorbs line conditioner reducing memory. Fluorocarbon line isn’t hygroscopic and sheds water and line conditioners. KVD micro coats a thin film on the FC line allowing it to absorb the coating to reduce memory. Tangle Free is a wetting coating that reduces memory for Mono/Copoly line and wets FC, but washes off in a few hours. I simple reapply TangFree as needed. Fins braid has polyurethane coated fibers to eliminate color fade and self lubricates. Tom 1 Quote

Tom I guess that would make it come of the spool easier and come through the guides better. I just never thought it was necessary. Definitely worth trying out. Quote

It’s proven to be the best option for me in especially blooming Hyacinth in the summer and through the thickest Hydrilla mats we see. Most of the time I use the 60# or 20# Shooter Mike 1 Quote
