Darrell Shep Posted March 29 Posted March 29 Looking for suggestions to pair with this bad boy coming from Japan. I have two St. Croix Legend Xtremes but I’m looking to get into Power-BFS. What rod will showcase the reel’s capabilities in you guys opinion? Quote
Super User FryDog62 Posted March 29 Super User Posted March 29 I have a 5 year old Steez SV TW on an NRX 852c. The SV spool is great for skipping lures like wacky/Neko worms. However it struggles to get much distance casting light lures. A true BFS reel will give you smooth, great distance casting, but I would never skip with one either. It’s a trade-off… Quote
ABU is overpriced Posted March 29 Posted March 29 I'd pair it with what you need it for. Probably an amazing reel for jerkbaits. Daiwa better not abandon this frame after these limited CT's get discontinued. Easily top 3 best frames from Daiwa. 1 Quote

Expand I want the spool to be 34mm of course, maybe 33mm so i could use my og alphas spools in it, but i really don't want anything under 33mm on general purpose reels, and no, i don't consider the CT as this weak finesse reel, it can handle everything you throw at it for 1oz lures and under. Massive fan of first gen Steez frame and the Pixy frame (og alphas as well, but i prefer the fatter, non ported top on the pixy). And between the three, i might actually put the CT in the first place as the best frame Daiwa has ever made. It fits like an egg in my palm. The thing is, this is exactly how i feel about the og steez and the pixy, they feel like agg shell. 1 Quote

While the new alphas and this tatulas are small they don’t palm like an egg due to the lack of roundness. I flip 50lb braid on mine with a 3/4 -1 ounce weight Quote

I use it for shakey heads, some paddle tail swimbaits and small jigs. I would say it's not quite a BFS rod. It would handle what your trying to use. But if you want to go all out, I would wait for the new Megabass Evoluzion rods to come out in July. There will be, I think, 3 BFS style rods in this line up. Quote

I have two St. Croix Legend Xtremes but I’m looking to get into Power-BFS. What rod will showcase the reel’s capabilities in you guys opinion? Expand That's the Steez CT LTD. It's a Steez LTD and has the usual treatments of a unique paint finish and shallower/light weight spool. You buy these for the rarity and paint finish. You can put whatever spool in you want that fits based on your application. If you're just going go use it bone stock then based on the spool appearance, I would spool it with 10# sniper and use it the way I do my 2015 Alphas SV skipping light plastics on a ML rod because that looks a lot like my 15 Alphas SV spools. To complete the silver look then maybe pair it to a Steez rod from recent years with a similar appearance to the Real Control rods. I'm not tuned into the current era Steez rods but something must tick the boxes. Pic sorced from TT forum is a full size Steez TW LTD on a Real Control rod. Certainly looks the part. Quote

Especially when considering all options that aren’t the new ct limited that has the sv boost spool. the Ct steezs all sit on the CT frame which is smaller than the standard steez sv, to me by quite a bit. The ct frame is fantastic imo. I don’t not have a standard sized sv to compare to a ct frame. 2 Quote
ReelDr Posted Tuesday at 01:37 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:37 AM How much smaller is the CT frame compared to the 24 Steez SV TW and latest gen Zillion? I have both the 24 Steez and Zillions and they both feel about the same to me when palmed. Is the CT frame noticeably different? And can you get a SV Boost spool in a CT? Quote

Expand The CT is 100% noticeably smaller than both the 24 steez and the zillion. The roundness it retains makes it a great palming reel. The new ct ltd is a boost spool where as the previous versions are sv. The boost spool on the LTD has even more limited line capacity. Too limited for my liking. The current non limited ct with the sv spool will hold 50 yards of 50lb x8 or greater braid Quote
