Wow ! that sure was a pretty short membership.  :-?

Raul,

I think there is some kind of a little glitch in the board software that sometimes kicks new members out as soon as they sign up. I think the mods will fix him up. It has happened before, but I think it's pretty rare.

I would go with the St Croix rods. The Avids are great rods for the $160.00 range. If you are looking for a rod  that cost below $100.00 check out the Croix Triumph rods. The Premier rods are nice but are very close in quality to the Triumphs. The Triumphs are assembled overseas so they are about $20.00 cheaper than the US made Premiers. If you are looking for a rod in the $200 - $300 range the Legend Tour & Legend Elite rods are top of the line and should be compared th the G.Loomis IMX & GLX rods.

ST. CRIOX.........get an avid series if you can & you wont be sorry

Im going against the grain and am saying Shimano Crucial.  Great rod for the money that I think they could get away with selling for more if they wanted to.  Now if you have the money and want to spring with the extra cash get a Loomis.  Both have Lifetime Warranty and are great rods.

The sheriff sent me to ask why you spelled G Loomis correctly, but not Saint Croix ? Ivan

Having owned both a triumph and a premier at one point I completely disagree with this.  There is a huge difference in the quality of these rods.  The Triumphs are heavier, less sensitive, and not nearly as well put together.  They truly are the definition of fishing with a broom handle.  The Premiers are quality rods for their price, the Triumphs are not quality at any price.

I fish three St. Croix and two G.Loomis. I like both brands and think you will, too.

However, going forward I will be buying G.Loomis exclusively.

Hawgin - Triumphs and premiers are built on the exact same SCII blank.  Good try though.

SCII is a designation that St.Croix uses to define the modulus of their graphite material. Premiers and Triumphs are not made on the exact same blanks, only with same raw material. That's like saying that a beer can and Shimano spool are the same because they are both made of aluminum. The blank tapers are different, they use different guides, different handles and reel seats on some models, the blanks and guides are finished differently. They are similar in some ways, but not exactly the same.
