What is the issue with forward-facing sonar? Isn’t it simply an advanced variation of the sonar technology we've been using for years? I believe the idea of banning forward-facing sonar is misguided. This technology does not automatically result in catching more or larger fish; anglers still need to find effective ways to attract fish and get them to bite. In fact, I would argue that forward-facing sonar has significantly enhanced bass fishing by providing valuable insights into the behavior and movements of the fish we pursue. It has deepened our understanding of these creatures, allowing us to make more informed decisions on the water. Thanks to the information displayed on the screen, anglers are now more engaged and strategic, adjusting their techniques based on real-time data. The technology puts a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips, empowering us to improve our performance if we take full advantage of it.

We stare at computer screens all day...at work...at home...and now at the lake.  It's a must to win a bsss tournament now.  Sigh...

Hi, GBass37. Welcome to Bass Resource. Your first post is a hot potato. I don't even use an anchor or motor, so FFS is beyond my ken. I understand your well-stated position, but also understand @KP Duty's screen weariness. I prefer to look around when I'm fishing. Witnessing the morning is as much fun as catching bass.

I've come to realize it's one of those things that's absolutely visceral one way or the other to even the non fishing public.   I've told a number of people who have never Bass fished a day in their lives about what FFS is, and they all instantly said "that's cheating".

Do I think it's the coolest technology ever invented for fishing.....1000%

Do I think it ruins the true nature and magic of Bass fishing.......1000%

I've never used it, but I don't really think I care one way or another. If it's not having a negative impact on fish populations, I'm happy people can enjoy fishing using it. I prefer not to. (I think. Like I said, I've never actually used it.) But I don't want another screen in my life, especially not when I'm outdoors enjoying creation. I'm a fish and let fish kinda guy.
