Super User Jig Man Posted Monday at 09:20 PM Super User Posted Monday at 09:20 PM A while back I bought some parts and made some. Today I found bass in 30 fow near the bottom. They were being picky and would hardly bite anything. I had one tied on and dropped it over the side. A fish hit it on the way down but came unbuttoned. I dropped it back and hooked a second fish with the same result. I reeled it in looked it over and dropped it back down. Another one hit it and also came loose. I’m about to send them to the land fill. Any tips on fishing them on an open flat near a bluff? Quote
softwateronly Posted Tuesday at 11:28 AM Posted Tuesday at 11:28 AM I have a few but have never found a bite with them yet. I would try some twin assist hooks hanging from the bottom. They don't catch snags as nearly as bad as a treble and if you go for tinsel the flash would probably be an asset. Maybe something like these but with a welded or split ring... scott Quote

Reel Posted Tuesday at 12:55 PM Posted Tuesday at 12:55 PM I use them for walleyes mostly but have caugh some bass on them. I mostly hook them on the upward stroke. Try to let them fall on a controlled slack line. That means that you are lowering them down with the rod the last few feet, they are not free falling. That helps feel the bite sooner and reacting sooner, with a more direct line pull. Still, not the easiest bait to use. Quote
