This is most of the domestically available colors.

Add in the patterns from the motherland and my brain starts to hurt.

For sure.  That’s a big part of the reason I asked.  Just trying to narrow it down.

Something shad-y (silver/white/light purple)

Something golden shiner-y (gold/light brown/maaaaybe chartreuse)

Something perch-y (vertical bars, orange or light chin)

Herring-y if you have bluebacks

just cover those. Cover more of the ones that you have more as forage.

Narrowing it down seems like a solid plan.

Sadly not one I subscribe too.

Either way, If I could only have, let's go with 4 baits.

They'd all be the perch pattern I posted above.

But in standard 110

The Silent 110

The 110 +1

and the 110+1 Jr.

Those have been wildly good for me up here.

I'd recommend whatever 'colors' you go with,

having something from each of the models listed here

can offer a very decent start at covering various sections of the water column.

Which IME, is often far more critical to getting SMB to take a poke

at my jerkbait, than color.

Good Luck

btw - I like jerkbaits

A-Jay's point of covering different depths is valid, but I'd suggest different colors to do so.  Elegy Bone, Pro Perch and double on the Mat Shad...

My top 3 patterns are perch, French pearl, and bluegill.

I got sucked into some odd patterns on eBay but they haven’t produced like the more natural versions. I think they mostly just catch my wallet. Not fish.

I’d start with matching the baitfish you have in your area and expanding from there, as needed, unless you want to take out a bank loan… 😉

I find perch is my best producer here in MA.

Good luck.

Let' s try and keep that one under wraps for at least a couple of seasons . . .

It's got so much potential that I think the average jerkbaiting  basshead's brain might actually explode if it becomes mainstream too fast.

I'm always looking out for others.

My best producer cold clear water last spring was a 110 jr+1 color "Pro Blue". Not the pro blue 2 which has a streak of yellow although that can work too. I'd spent a couple years avoiding that color because I didn't think it looked quite natural despite seeing it at the top of Matt Allen's list in virtually every jerkbait video. Last April I found out why. They crushed it in low to mid 40s on a 3-4 second pause.

BTW you have to look hard to find it but there's also a great ghosty "GP Phantom" color available from one online retailer right now, in 110 and jr but no + sizes. I ordered one to see it in person and immediately ordered 3 more, I have a feeling it will be a killer color.
