Joedodge Posted March 18 Posted March 18 So I have 2 carbonlite 2.0 combos. A Med and MH. They fish wonderful sensitive cast great and are smooth. I can’t stand the white personally. And not sold on the grips. I’ve had them a couple years now. With the sale going on I was considering picking up another medium heavy combo. Orrrrr going Shimano slx and a dobyns fury 7’ heavy. I’m an avid pond and bank fisherman. So there is some demolishing return lol. But things my only hobby. What is everyone’s thoughts? Quote
wolfe_ohara Posted March 19 Posted March 19 (edited) if you like the carbonlite 2.0, perhaps the j.m. technique specific rods? they feel similar to the 2.0 and are black. I believe they come in combo form as well. I have, and fish the heck out of, the glide bait rod. It performs quite nicely for big treble hooked lures. they do still have the winn style grips though. Tom I just looked that up and watched some videos. Wow! That is a nice rod for the money. I had a Procyon spinning rod from them 15 years ago and it was wonderful. Thank you for the help!! Quote

The lure rating is a little off though in my opinion. 3/4oz feels overloaded. 1/8-1/2oz is good to go though. Maybe up to 5/8. Just paired it with a Daiwa exceler LT 3000, nice pairing. Quote

I see that and someone mentioned the technique line which is the same thing. I mean the white isn’t bad I don’t care if it functions well and catches fish they aren’t a fashion statement. I just don’t prefer white lol Quote
Eric 26 Posted March 20 Posted March 20 (edited) I had the 7’-0” med powered carbonlite combo and like you didn’t love the look but loved the action, I wound up selling the combo but my reasoning was I wasn’t a fan of the reel in hand which just didn’t fit right for me. I did purchase an SLX and wound up selling too but as I said in another post I regret that decision and remedied that with a jdm SLX MGL that I really like. I say get the SLX and Daiwa rod as variety is the spice of life. I should add I bought a Carbonlite 1500 spinning reel that I absolutely love and I purchased a 7’-0” med hvy spinning rod just last weekend along with owning a Lews TP1 rod so I guess it wasn’t the color as much as I thought. And if looks matters to you, they're a beautiful rod with nice craftsmanship. If someone gave me one to try out and I didn't know the price, I'd guess it's a $150-$200 rod. Quote

Did you find that true? Quote

I had a Procyon 7’ spinning rod years and years ago in M/XF and I remember it being a stout rod Quote

I'd definitely check out the M/F if I'm wanting a more true MH/F. Their M/F is rated up to 3/4oz. Quote

GRiver Posted Friday at 12:09 AM Posted Friday at 12:09 AM I have a carbonlite 2.0 combo….. I absolutely love it. It’s a 6’6” med/med- fast, I was on the fence when buying it, the med fast felt stouter that a regular med/med. I use it a lot, it’s one of my most universal rigs, I can throw t-rigs, cranks or spinners. I don’t mind the white, it has yellowed a bit. I all so have another carbonlite reel, 7:5 LE, I like it a lot too. Quote

But I am budget minded so they are perfect lol 1 Quote
