Super User LrgmouthShad Posted March 17 Super User Posted March 17 Anyone been on Devils River TX? A friend is suggesting we float and fish there in May but according to a quick google search it can be a dangerous venture. I am interested in but cautious of this potential adventure. Hoping you fine gentlemen have some advice. Quote
Fishingmickey Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Hi Lrgmouth, There is a outfitter or two that organizes trips down the Devils river. I have know several people that have taken the trip and one of these days I'd love to do it too, I think timing your trip is critical. You don't want to go when the water is really low nor really high either. It's pretty much a point to point float down a very primitive and pristine section of river. There are rules about making sure you pack out everything you pack in. Including the "dueces" you drop along the way. I think the "floats" vary in length with the long trip taking up to a week. Very clear water, very good fishing is what I have heard. There should be plenty of information on the web about it and the outfitters. Best regards, FM PS We'll have to get together and fish Stillhouse sometime, 1 Quote
steve carpenter Posted March 17 Posted March 17 Know a couple that took a guided trip there. They loved it. Very isolated . Don't think they fished it though Quote
Kev-mo Posted March 18 Posted March 18 Look on youtube for Jon B/Devils River. I think that's what he goes by. Anyway he did a multi day trip. Pretty sure it was BC so I don't remember too many details but maybe it'll springboard you. What I do remember was amazingly blue water and being fired up to go there. Bit of a drive tho...lol Quote

Fishingmickey Posted Monday at 03:12 PM Posted Monday at 03:12 PM Hey Disco, I've fished Ray Bob a few times. We had it as a stop in some of the old KATS tournaments. It's been awhile since I've been there. Pretty serious six hour hike from here. If I'm up in that area I'll bring a extra kayak and we can see what happens. Best, Fishingmickey Quote
