I can get away with 4 or 5 brands, but one is too limiting. Same here, even similar baits work differently so I just use whatever works best. Allen 1 Quote
Craig P Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Get some clear zipper pouches or even ziplock storage bags. Put all your bags of one color into a pouch or style of baits into a pouch. Keeps my brain very organized now. Quote
RB 77 Posted March 21 Posted March 21 Yes. My own. I have been making my own baits for over a decade now. Still sell wholesale a little bit too. I make it all; worms, lizards, creatures, craws, swimbaits, etc... However before I started making my own I used a few different brands. I got it down to a select few; Roboworm, Yamamoto and Zoom. Robo for finesse worms, Yama for Senkos and Kutails and Zoom for Lizards, BBH's and other misc. Settled on Big Hammer for swimmies. 1 Quote

Now it's a part time gig to do "leisurely" when demand warrants it. Nothing quite like creating your own baits that knock the snot out of them! Quote

Most know who that is. 😉. I have a strict rule with sponsors….no competitors allowed. In the fishing circles around me here, it’s kind of a given that you will never catch me throwing a competitors plastic. Since we are talking about plastics, my sponsor, under the old management, used to encourage me to use others knock offs and report back to them how they performed or what they could do to improve the baits. I also give them color recommendations and even new product lines that fill a need not addressed. With the new management there are multiple lines of plastics under the same umbrella but I have been asked to stay with my main brand. On a personal note, my brand has produced every style, size and color plastic I will ever use or need to use. As new products come out in the line I represent, I give them a shot and see if they make it to my “must have” list. So yes, I only use one brand of plastics……and I have zero complaints. I'm in a similar position. I am on the pro staff for a small company in North Carolina. They have every style i will ever need and if I want a custom color they will match it. I should mention when I say small, that's a relative term. They're not a small hand pour nor are they Zoom. They have been good to me and in return my brand loyalty is to them. It's also important to me that i can keep my money as local as possible and they have afforded me that opportunity. I'm wired that way. As far gaps. They address those and my or may not go into production. A part of the fun in this process it getting to field test said baits. It's always interesting. So to answer the question, yes, I fish only one brand of soft plastics. 1 1 Quote
