I have two, if I am fishing a bass tournament I always have a can of 3 bean salad on board. The first tournament I ever fished was a state Smallmouth Championship tournament and I did well so......

The second is I always on every body of water I have ever been on in this United States I throw a coin in this includes the

Atlantic, Pacific, and the Gulf of America.

I may be a little strange but I am willing to bet there are others.

Bananas on your boat are thought to bring bad luck another myth.

Lucky fishing hat is a must have!

I’ve never really been a superstitious person but I’m intrigued to see what items those who are bring with or do

A can of 3 bean salad is wild but I love it!

I always twist my knots (those that have twists, anyway) five or seven times. No more than seven, no less than five, definitely not six.

I don't believe in superstitions but the hat has been proven many time in studies to be a proven fish catching key.

When one is lost or has to be replaced it is a time consuming process for the permanent replacement to be made for consistent results.

Oh, and when I need to outfish my buddies on a trip the Aftco Blue sun shirt needs to be utilized :tongue23:

I'm strictly a man of science so no superstitions for me.  That said I agree with @herder concerning the science of hats.  It was proven in the 1960 that fishing with an orange T on your cap greatly improves your chances of success as long as you stay away from ceiling fans.

The hat thing for sure. I have one that I only wear when fishing.

Another is, if I catch a fish on the first cast of the day, go home because that's the only fish I'm going to catch that day.

There are so many I heard over the years.

Some are just silly while others…..

*If bringing a woman on board she must always start fishing from the bow

*Throwing a penny in the water before the first cast will bring good luck

*Fish on the first cast, you won’t catch another

*If you see a cow eating on shore the fish will also

*If you see a cow laying down fish won’t bite

*Fish will start biting if you relieve yourself over the side

*A bass won’t hit a frog if the sun rises above the top of a tree line

*Never fill the live well before you catch a fish

* 80/20 Rule..20% of the water holds 80% of the fish

*Absolutely positively no bananas!!

Mine..

Always the same hat

Fish on the first cast thing..

(I always just toss my bait in the water first, then bring it up and go)

And of course NO bananas

I don't think I'm very superstitious or good at it.  I'm aware of them and I like to point them out sometimes when I encounter one - but I love a banana on the boat.  High potassium and calorie snack with good fiber out on the water sounds like good luck to me!

I have a dime laying in the floorboard of my boat. It was in there when I brought it home from the dealership and it has been in there everyday since. I have to tell people when I bring them on the boat not to take my lucky dime if they see it on the floor. Also I have a hat that says "This is my lucky fishing hat". It is the most UNLUCKIEST hat ever! Every time I've ever worn that hat fishing something catastrophic happens.

The wind.                                                           " Wind from the east, the fish bite the least. Wind from the west, the fishings the best. Wind from the south, blows the hook into the fishes mouth".          Heard this as kid. Thought it was dumb back then, and still do. I'm not a superstitious person.

So like werewolves and similar myths? Or like bass only spawn during the full moon. It’s certainly not science.

Nah not only spawn or anything like that - I just believe in periods where animals and critters and bait fish and all sorts of things (insects birds frogs crayfish) sort of cause little flurries of opportunity each month 😉😉😉

I'm not superstious at all...I bring a banana if I want one, I have many different hats depending on the weather, I hope for a fish on the first cast...whatever.

But, the one thing I have is a rock I found when I was around 14.

I was helping my Dad launch our boat and was skipping rocks into the lake. I found a nice, flat, smooth rock and was just about to throw it when my Dad sternly reminded me of my duties. I put the rock in my pocket to skip later. That day I caught a 5+ lber. I got back on land, remembered the rock, decided it was that rock that helped, put it in my tackle box and it's been with me for 40+ years.

Transferred from box to box, from box to bag, from canoe to boat to boat.

It's in my current boat as we speak.

I always fish in black boxer briefs.   If I drown at least my body will appear stylish.  :)

I'm definitely not superstitious.

Still believe in weather conditions but only to an extent.

My biggest bass was caught in the middle of the day in August, bluebird skies.

My biggest buck was shot at 12:36 in the afternoon, temps in the mid 80's.

So maybe I can offer this......hunt and fish when you shouldn't.
