Joedodge Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago So I’m gonna get a new sling bag this weekend as I hate carrying my current tackle bag on my shoulder. I generally carry a 3600 box and a small 3500 box for terminal tackle. And my soft plastics. Stick baits, flukes, paddle tails, and some creatures. How much stuff do you carry when one hopping for a morning or the day?? Any bag recommendations? 1 Quote
Super User gim Posted 18 hours ago Super User Posted 18 hours ago If you can't fit it on a plane as a carry on, you have too much. 😂 1 2 Quote
MediumMouthBass Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I carry a 3600 sized tackle bag (either Ozark Trail, or Okeechobee Fats), it can fit 3-4 3600 tackle trays. Ill fill it with 2 3600 trays full of lures, 10-/+ bags of soft plastics, 1 Flambeau 3003 mini tray on top for terminal tackle. Its small, easy to carry while holding 4-6 rods in one or both hands, all while being able to carry everything i need and then some. I carried around a grocery bag of plastics, and 3600-3700 trays by themselves for years, it was a mess. Stuff was falling out, unorganized, hard to pick up quickly and carry. The 3600 tackle bags are amazing. They also double as a great small boat/kayak soft plastic bag only. Ive got around 4 of them just for that depending on what lake im fishing. Quote
Fishlegs Posted 18 hours ago Posted 18 hours ago I use an old cooler bag that holds three 3600 utility boxes, and one small terminal box. One 3600 box is for hard baits, and the others are for soft plastics, and wire baits. I keep a pair of pliers, a line cutter, a multitool, and an extra spool of line. It's really more stuff than I ever need for a bank trip, and if I try to carry more it gets difficult to fish. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted 17 hours ago Super User Posted 17 hours ago Bank fishing , I carry the bare minimum. I carry one rod and reel , so I'll take lures that match the combo. Cant catch fish if you have lures that wont cast well with the equipment used. Maybe a top water, spinnerbait , jig heads,a few hooks weights and soft plastics is all i usually need. Those choices can change depending on the chracteristics of the water. 3 Quote
Joedodge Posted 17 hours ago Author Posted 17 hours ago I’m basically carrying a couple lipless cranks, a jerkbait, hollow frog,a couple spinner baits, a chatter bait, a couple jigs. Some terminal tackle then soft plastics. Some creatures, some flukes some swim baits and stick baits Quote
Hogs_n_Logs Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago Did alot of bank fishing over the past 2 years. This may be personal preference and fishing style but the more things you have to set down and keep track off, compounds into many annoying effects and negatively effects actually fishing. It eventually got to the point were I have everything on my person at all times. 1 rod/reel combo. I use a "standard" baitcast setup, 7 foot mh etc. Whether you get a hip bag or backpack, I would make sure its something were the strap system is well designed. I personally use a small mountain hiking backpack, the strap and suspension system locks it onto your body so it is not sliding around or unbalancing you when you are casting or moving. This can be much more annoying than you think. All tackle is in one mid sized but deep tackle box with no dividers(meiho vs1200) is how I do it, its a bit unorganized but allows you to stuff a lot of lures/tackle into a small container. Having multiple boxes is very cumbersome and annoying when bank fishing and take up massive space in your bag, with just one its easier to slip it in and out with one hand. I keep this box empty and dedicated for this, and stuff it full of tackle from my organized boxes before i go out. Something I never do on the boat but do for bank fishing is remove plastics from their bags and stick it in with everything in this hard box, many times pre rigged on t-rig hooks etc. The point is, its way easier and less annoying when all your tackle is centralized in one container when fishing on the bank, IMO. One spool of line, all in one pliers, and sometimes a scale rounds out the rest of the pack. Lure selection, essentials and confidence baits supplemented with choices based on the BOW and conditions. Set up like I described above, you can fish, rig, and move spots(even tricky terrain) seamlessly without ever setting your gear down. For me this made bank fishing much more enjoyable and effective. 1 Quote
Joedodge Posted 16 hours ago Author Posted 16 hours ago Wow thank you! Excellent response. I’m trying to keep things as simple as I can. And definitely looking for a small back pack or sling bag to kind of limit me on what I can carry. But I wana have a nice setup where I only bank fish now. No boat or kayak anymore Quote
DaubsNU1 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I have a small tackle bag that holds three 3700 Plano's. It has a long strap I throw over my shoulder. I do cram a lot of stuff in there -- plastics, cranks, jigs, c-rig stuff, chatter baits, square bills, more plastic, scissors, digital scale, pliers, extra line, towel, sunglasses, soap, sunscreen, etc. Medium light two piece spinning rod with 10lb bright yellow braid, Alberto-knotted to 8lb fluorocarbon. I keep this set up in trunk of my car, in case I get some time during lunch, or after work to make a few casts. It's also the setup I take when on my Brother's boat fishing with him and my Dad. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted 15 hours ago Super User Posted 15 hours ago I carry a 3600 bag with 5 boxes in it. One box for terminal tackle, and four boxes of baits. Jig trailers, tools and equipment, and plastic worms go in the side and front pockets. Quote
Derek1 Posted 15 hours ago Posted 15 hours ago I have a Plano box that if I remember correctly is 4”x9” that I modified with a dremel. It could hold plenty of hooks and weights for a couple of hours. Along with a couple spinnerbaits, chatter baits, jigs, and a few hard baits if you wanted. All at the same time. It fit in the back pocket of my jeans or a side cargo pocket. An assorted bag of soft plastics and pliers in another pocket. That gave me a couple different options for a couple of rods. Like said above putting stuff down and picking it back up sucks. This ends up being Plenty for a few hours of beating the bank. Quote
Joedodge Posted 15 hours ago Author Posted 15 hours ago One of my current 3600 I modified with a dremel too. Mostly because I needed a way to carry a couple spinner baits Quote
little giant Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago I bank fish most of the time, 3 or 4 days a week. I use a medium size toolbag. 1 double sided plano box, its smaller than a 3600, with a variety of hard baits, small double box terminal tackle, and 10 bags of plastics. I determine the night before what I need to bring. I fish 2-3 hrs starting at daybreak. I bring 4-5 rods, 2 of them always bfs. Quote
IYAOYAS Posted 14 hours ago Posted 14 hours ago If I'm on the bank I have a BPS blue backpack tacklebox I use. It's the older version from like 2000 but this is basically the exact same one. It carries more than enough for me. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/bass-pro-shops-pro-guide-3600-backpack-tackle-bag Quote
Bazoo Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago I use this https://www.academy.com/p/h2ox-premier-worm-binder I dropped the plastic box it came with, and most of the plastic organizers. 2 3600 boxes will fit in the main compartment, along with 1 of plastic organizers for a handful of spinnerbaits. Soft plastics and terminal tackle go in the front compartment. From this I change to just 1 3600 box and added more soft plastics to the main compartment depending on what I'm wanting to focus on. It's all less than 5 pounds no matter what I do, and it's pretty comfortable and reliable. I've using this bag exclusively for over a year now. Quote
Super User GetFishorDieTryin Posted 7 hours ago Super User Posted 7 hours ago A 3600 bag is too big IMO if you really bank fish often and backpacks are ok, but often you dont need all that. You want to be able to fish with the bag on your back without having to put it down. ONce you put it down. I find 3500 bags are the way to go. I use an old cabelas bag that was called catch all. The new ones are way cheaper quality wise but are a little bigger closer to a 3600. They only cost like 14 dollars and are worth grabbing, Those bags fit bags of plastics well in the main compartment, which will take up the bulk of room IME. The front pocket will get a double sided plano and the side pockets will be filled with terminal, jigs in packs. Since space is a premium, I only bring baits I have supreme confidence in or am working on getting better with. Quote

I think mines the carry all tho. But still. It’s great bag just now what I want anymore Quote
VTFan Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I use an old laptop computer bag that has a shoulder strap and holds one 3600 box for bank fishing. The zipper compartments come in handy for bags of plastics etc... My bigger 5 tray tackle bag only gets taken in the boat. Quote
