Just wondering to whoever owns this rod , what are some of your favorite techniques to fish wit it? Is it as versatile as say a Loomis Glx 843c?Thank you.

I don’t know anything about loomis, but I have that model croix in last gen legend tournament. It’s my swim jig rod and is also labeled as such. I also use it for bottom contact finesse jigs, smaller t rigs, weightless senkos. Croix XF is soft in the tip not stiff like most others. Kind of a dual action as it’s quick to load up on the cast, and accurate but will load a bit deeper during the hook set and fight imo.

I have this same model in Mojo Bass, Avid X, and Legend Elite.  I use it all the time for multiple species and multiple baits.  It's my swiss army knife casting rod.  I obviously really like it.

I have Legend Elite version and I use it for jigs but to me this rod is stiff and fast at the tip. I find the only thing it's good for is close range jig fishing.  It doesn't load really well and I wouldn't call it tip heavy but in terms of action it's seems faster than most X-fast rods. I like it but it's probably the least versatile rod I own.

As far as comparing it to the 843c (I have the NRX+ version), it's way different.  The 843c is softer and lighter in power.  I would call it not quite a MH and the St. Croix more of a MH+.

The 843c is definitely the more versatile of the two. I use mine for paddle tail swimbaits,  Texas Rigged soft plastic,  the free rig, and the occasional topwater lure. It can also handle spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and jigs but it's not my favorite for those techniques.

Dont have that rod, but i know that a 7'1" MH-XF rod specifically is excellent for spinnerbaits, jigs too. I plan on buying a Tatula with the same specs just for it.

I've had it in the Legend Tournament variation and I agree with Fish Tank. They are stiff and quick.

Great draggin' rod but there are better choices for moving baits.

As far as versatility it's not in the same zip code as a 843. The Loomis is much more moderate and weaker in power.

If your looking for a Tatula for jigs and moving baits check out the Ehler all purpose. I have the AGS version but it's a great rod in either.

So would you do a 5/8 football jig(lighter wire) with the Croix?

Depending on you look at it... I've thrown a 3/4oz with a 4in Rage Craw and a 1/2oz with a Beaver. They kind of weigh about the same.
