Looked at a 7' yesterday.  I consider them to be a best buy for a fisherman on a budget.

The new ones are extremely light in weight compared to other rods that fall anywhere near $35.00.I don't own one, just looked at them at Bass pro shop yesterday. They would be worth looking at if your needing more rods. :)Ivan

I haven't seen the new Lightning rods.  All I can say is my wife still uses a pair or old early/mid 80's LR rods I gave her way back when.  The ones with the old EVA foam pistol grips.  I can pick those up today and it's still amazing how light those rods are and extremely sensitive.  They were way ahead of their time when they first came out.

I like the look of the new Lightning Rods in the catalog...and at their price, they seem to be hard to beat.  BTW, I just sold an original Lightning Rod that is was in new condition basically.  It was a 6' pistol grip from 1985.  Kind of regretting doing so, but I was making room for new stuff.
