GardenStateFishin Posted yesterday at 02:25 AM Posted yesterday at 02:25 AM looking to pick up one of these 2 rods. Any experience/opinions on each? Looking for something to handle mainly mid cranks with the occasional deep diver like a tactical DD, DT 16, or deep X 300. Will the 845 be able to handle these or is the 906 necessary? Quote
Super User FishTank Posted yesterday at 03:28 AM Super User Posted yesterday at 03:28 AM I have the 903C. It's my dedicated 3/8-1/2oz square bill rod. It's not bad but I wish it was a little softer at the tip. I really don't care for it when it comes to deeper diving baits. For that, I use the 866C Deep Flex. I have used it for all the baits mentioned above and pretty much anything that runs deeper than 6ft. Despite the rod being rated from 1/2 to 1 3/8oz, it can handle some baits that are lighter than a 1/2oz. I am not 100% sure but it may have been discontinued or updated. I saw a few places that were out of it, now have it in stock. Quote

Really if the rod can handle dt-8 and up I’ll be very happy. The 18” handle on the 906 from my kayak sounds like it would be a problem Quote

I usually fish from a kayak and I really like how this rod keeps fish pinned, especially deeper fish. If you do get this rod, one different thing about it.... the blank itself feels more like a medium in hand than a heavy. It's really thin. 1 Quote

Can pick it up right now for a good price. The length seems perfect to me 1 Quote
Solution Pogues2300 Posted 13 hours ago Solution Posted 13 hours ago I own and love them both. First bought the 845 and it can handle the tactical dd but seems about topped out with that . Bought the 906 and now that’s my go to for the tactical. I always bring both and for the 845 I love it for square bills, lipless cranks, and poppers. 2 Quote
