txchaser Posted Thursday at 02:48 AM Posted Thursday at 02:48 AM I'm in the mood for something big, with a wake. There's going to be some time this spring where the grass isn't topped out, and I know for sure there are "bigs" lurking around. Quote

MediumMouthBass Posted Thursday at 05:23 AM Posted Thursday at 05:23 AM FishLab BBZ Bio Shad Wake. Comes in a 4" 3/4oz size ill throw on my regular bass gear, and then a big 6" thats 2-3/4oz. I really like the ones i have, good colors, good action, and they are pretty cheap, which is a huge plus in pickerel infested places. 1 Quote
Born 2 fish Posted Thursday at 09:53 AM Posted Thursday at 09:53 AM Ms slammer or a big rat if your choice I use the spro rat. 1 Quote
Super User VolFan Posted Thursday at 10:47 AM Super User Posted Thursday at 10:47 AM If you want something more affordable that you can fish a bunch of different ways and catch all sizes of fish, a MS Slammer is it. My favorite is the Cl8 Baby Possum. It is not cheap and it is not subtle. It is like throwing a small dog holding a grenade in the water. But the action is plain amazing. And it catches big fish, especially in rising warming water in spring, and muddy flooding in summer. 1 1 Quote
Mr. Aquarium Posted Thursday at 11:02 AM Posted Thursday at 11:02 AM 9 inch Ms slammer is my OG but I have stopped fishing them. I love a Psyco gill, DS ninja wake, Matt’s strong shad 1 Quote

Have you also tried the BPS Wake Up call? Same weight but bigger profile/jointed. Was deciding between those two when I saw this post. Quote

RRocket Posted Thursday at 04:55 PM Posted Thursday at 04:55 PM I am no expert in the upsized baits, but I've got a decent collection of really nice wake baits so I don't see why the upsized version wouldn't work as well. As mentioned, the rat is great. This was my first wake bait and it did not disappoint. The strikes are violent! I live in an area with Pike and have had them launch completely out of the water on a strike. Bowfin pound this lure too. I've seen guys on YouTube catch monster fish with the bigger rat version. Someone mentioned the Buzzjet (I have the Jr.) It's such a beautifully made lure. There's just something about it. I'm not sure if it's big enough for what you want though? 1 Quote
looking45 Posted Thursday at 07:25 PM Posted Thursday at 07:25 PM Not really a wake bait but if you want something big, how about this glide bait! It’s 12” long and weighs 22 ounces 1 Quote

Super User WRB Posted Friday at 01:42 AM Super User Posted Friday at 01:42 AM If the old school hand made MS Slammer that catches bass isn’t sexy enough try Balam floating 245, 9.6”, 3.7 oz, $250 Tpm Quote
Mr. Aquarium Posted Friday at 02:17 AM Posted Friday at 02:17 AM 1 hour ago, txchaser said: I’m curious why you stopped fishing them. Not really sure, maybe cuz I’ve been using other baits more. I got a lot of different styles and colors. During the night season I do bring them out. I should rephrase what I said previously. I don’t fish them as much as I used to. I just got so many different baits hard to use them all. Quote
primetime Posted Friday at 02:40 PM Posted Friday at 02:40 PM Jointed Red fin.....or standard......If you want something that can cast further and more aggressive, Strike Pro makes a really good wake bait. Super Loud. Forget the name but BPS still sells them. Think its the Humpback minnow? $15 maybe. The bigger size is a big bait. Probably weighs close to an ounce. I like the Red Fins the best. Or buy the biggest Rapala they make, Jointed J-13 or F-13 Minnow reeled slow. Hard to beat OG Balsa rapala for Floating Jerkbaits/Wakebaits. Quote
Super User scaleface Posted Friday at 03:34 PM Super User Posted Friday at 03:34 PM Blakemore CC spinner. Its no longer available but any pourer can make one. They were made for waking. Big old number 7 colorado blade , black skirt , muddy water it catches them. Quote
