Storing items in the battery box

Any do's/do not's on storing items in the battery compartment? Obviously a bunch of metal would be bad, but as an example I saw a pro organizing video that had his life jackets in there. Just seemed like a bad idea given heat, especially given that I'm in Texas, but he's a pro so ? 

 

It's pretty full already with five batteries.

Oh and while I'm at it, same question for the livewell. Seems like if I get that wrong everything will be wet. But I haven't ever seen water in there unless I turn the pump on.

I like the thinking... I have two livewells and rarely use either one.   Unfortunately, it isn't unusual for me be fishing and say "What is that noise?" - Only to realize that I inadvertantly bumped on a livewell switch

I store stuff in the battery compartment.  I, tool kit, small fillet board, live well dip net and extra rain suit (in a water proof bag).  I have had no issues so far.

My starting and electronics battery compartment is pretty small. here is what I store in that area:

• Spare TM prop
• Block of wood in case need to remove the Mercury prop
• Backup baseball cap
• My wedge for the Mercury (backup to my transom saver)

I just have one live well. I keep the Lindy bait tamer in there
