Super User Swamp Girl Posted March 11 Super User Posted March 11 I fished for walleyes, smallies, and muskies for decades, but a couple years ago, I started fishing for largemouth. As a kid, I'd caught largemouth in farm ponds, so fingers crossed I can catch them again in 2025. I fish from a canoe and like to fish early. I bought a lure called a Whopper Plopper. Fingers crossed it'll catch some bass! I also plan to cast a Popper. If there were lures called a Dropper, Schmopper Flopper, and a Clopper, I'd buy those too. They call me Swampy. Try to guess why! P. S. - If this post is too goofy for Bass Resource, feel free to delete it. I'll understand. 4 Quote

GRiver Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Swampy seems appropriate, being you mostly fish the bogs and swamp. 1 Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I don’t know about the rest of the country, but down South when someone says that they are swampy it means their butt crack is nasty. 1 5 Quote

river-rat Posted March 12 Posted March 12 I spent so much time in the swamps of the Atchafalaya Basin and on the Atchafalaya River during my teenage years and early 20's my Mom started calling me a "river rat". 3 Quote

GRiver Posted March 12 Posted March 12 @GRiver came about from me wade fish in the Cane River so much, that people said they should change the name to George’s River. I just shorten it for my username. Good times for sure. 1 Quote

The wind is howling today and tomorrow brings four inches of snow. Does anyone have a white flag? I am ready to unconditionally surrender. 1 Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted Sunday at 03:36 PM Super User Posted Sunday at 03:36 PM @Swamp Girl I feel your pain. As a PA & NE Ohio resident for many years I experienced the cold & ice lingering for way to long before spring was finally sprung. 1 Quote

The BR gang have been posting so many big bass, but anglers like @gim, @The Baron, me, and others are simply this: 1 Quote

The Baron Posted Sunday at 05:10 PM Posted Sunday at 05:10 PM Yeah @Swamp Girl we had a few BEAUTIFUL warm, sunny days last week. Now it’s back to about 20-25F overnight and struggling to get above freezing as a high. Windy yesterday, snow in the forecast for Tuesday. It’s a been a grind and we’re not quite done.😕 BUT… I’m scheduled to pickup the new boat on April 1st (🫢) then straight into the shop for electronics and trolling motor install. I spent a few hours yesterday reorganizing baits, and just ordered a few more boxes and bags. Hopefully things will warm up and I’ll get after some early season Lake Ontario bass before it closes down May 10th. A short and closing window, but we should get a few tries.🤞🏻 Then it’s just pike fishing until the regular bass season opens on the back lakes June 21st. 1 Quote

I'm surprised that they're so protective of bass, given how sturdy they are, but I kind of like it too. FWIW, I ordered three Canada caps. I'll be wearing them all summer. I have always loved Canada and Canadians. Got a new boat pic? Quote
