FellowAnglers1 Posted Tuesday at 04:26 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:26 PM What the longest backorder you waited on american legacy fishing? Mine is going on 10 weeks and was told to wait another week or two for my rod.
Fishlegs Posted Tuesday at 05:19 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:19 PM 11 months. No joke. I ordered a couple of reels, a few weights, and one pack of lures that I wanted to try. I got an email a day or so later informing me that the lures were on backorder. The reels and weights were delivered quickly, but that pack of lures took 11 months. I had completely forgotten about it until it showed up. 1
SongDynasty Posted Tuesday at 06:33 PM Posted Tuesday at 06:33 PM I preordered the Ultegra XR 2/5/2024 with an expected release in Spring2024. I've contacted support many times throughout with constant release date push backs. My most recent contact was 12/20/2024 with an available date of 10-14 days. I have yet to receive it. I ordered one 12/24/2024 from a different site and got mine within the week 1
FellowAnglers1 Posted Tuesday at 08:20 PM Author Posted Tuesday at 08:20 PM Not looking to good. Guess I will give it another month and ask for a refund if able.
Rockhopper Posted Tuesday at 08:26 PM Posted Tuesday at 08:26 PM I waited months on a backorder. Ended up canceling my order weeks ago. Was told refund would take a couple weeks to post. Still nothing. So, I actually just contacted them again today and threatened to turn them over to Chase for fraud. Had money back literally within minutes after sending that email to them. I will never order through them again. Horrible company.  I ordered the same items elsewhere for the same discount and had them in hand within days. 3

Was this through American Legacy? I have never had an issue with them and they have always been good to me, whether on orders, problems with orders or rods broken during shipment. They always stood behind things.  Sounds like you had a bad experience, but I don't agree that they are a horrible company. I've dealt with others that were FAR more questionable. 3

I told them that in was against the law to hold someone's money (don't know it that's true) and I was filing a complaint with PayPal. They told me to hold on a minute, they came back and said that I would have my refund by the end of day. Two hours later I had my refund. 2

GReb Posted Tuesday at 09:34 PM Posted Tuesday at 09:34 PM I’ve bought thousands of dollars worth of gear from them with no issues. Saved hundreds through their used program on basically brand new rods and reels. If I don’t buy directly from the manufacturer they’re my go to. Brian and company have always taken care of me 3

Either you are the same guy who posted the exact thing on reddit within the past 2 weeks, or you arent and this happens alot with them.  Needless to say, i wont be ordering from them based on what ive read numerous times.  However its worth mentioning, 80% of their sales are great experiences. The 20% that happen are bad enough to outweigh that for me 1

Fishlegs Posted Tuesday at 10:14 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:14 PM I've ordered from them more than once, and I've been pretty happy with everything except for the backorder issue I mentioned earlier. I would still order from them again.
rangerjockey Posted Tuesday at 10:37 PM Posted Tuesday at 10:37 PM I'd guess I have bought/sold/traded 150 rods from them over the last 8 or 9 years. There has been some that have gotten broken or wind up all the way across the country because of shipping issues but never do to negligence on ALFs part. If I have an issue Brian gets me taken care of he has gone above and beyond what I expected several times. I personally have sworn off the back order deal regardless of who it is. I waited since October for a bait from TW that has never made it. They are at the mercy of the suppliers I know but I don't need the stress. They are launching a new website.  ' , '  3
Super User GetFishorDieTryin Posted Wednesday at 12:28 AM Super User Posted Wednesday at 12:28 AM Other then a rod I got form Japan, ALF has had the best packing job. TW used to do real well, but lately theyre just taping the plastic wrap of the rod to the outside of the tube and covering the tip. The most recent rod I got from TW was loose in the tube because the plastic rod cover had holes at both ends, like WTH TW. I had to send the previous rod back because it had a huge gash in the reel seat, which I could see getting by the guys at TW, but Phenix should have never tried to sell it. Â
Super User F14A-B Posted Wednesday at 01:12 AM Super User Posted Wednesday at 01:12 AM Japan ships and delivers faster than ALFC. I live 90 miles from them and have been in there a few times.  I’m batting about .500 with them. I don’t know what the difficulties are but they are real. 1

Like you said,... To each their own. Sucks you had that bad experience with them! I can understand where you are coming from.  I've just never had any issues with them. I've bought MANY rods and reels from them. New and used, both in person and online and having them shipped and their service has always been great.  I am about 100 miles north of them and I like to go down there when I can and weed through the used rods and reels. Why, I don't know,... Since I have WAY more of both than I will ever need. 🤔🤔 3
KP Duty Posted Wednesday at 02:54 PM Posted Wednesday at 02:54 PM After 10ish months of waiting on Daiwa Samuria...I called and said I would take some different lb tests to get it shipped. I ordered it during the '23 Christmas sale, and got it fall of last year. They did call me and ask if I wanted to wait for it. He said the line was hot and they couldn't keep it in stock.  2
Super User FryDog62 Posted Wednesday at 04:39 PM Super User Posted Wednesday at 04:39 PM So, what I’m wondering with ALF - is it that they are just so short-staffed, or they don’t have the leverage of Tacklewarehouse? Or is it both?  For instance, I’ve had a very common/popular Daiwa reel on backorder with them for weeks/months.. and during this time TW has it continually in stock. Now that backordered reel just went on sale at ALF while still on backorder! Is it they are trying to build demand and prove to Daiwa they are a major player and need to be a higher priority and receive more stock regularly to keep their customers happy? Or is it just a sad reality that the bigger retailer (TW) is simply higher volume and Daiwa treats them as priority over the smaller ALF’s and Omnia’s of the world? This has happened to me with other product/backorders at ALF too not just this reel. Lots of back orders, but that’s not the case nearly as often at the evil empire also known as Tacklewarehouse.  Yes, ALF’s follow through and detail orientation seems to have slid backwards since the Covid era started. Lots of tackle companies have had the same experience, but they just seem to always be behind and details suffer. I had a new rod sent to me a couple weeks ago that was on backorder for 6 months. I had cancelled the order and purchased something else from them 5 1/2 months ago and the rod still showed up. Had to send it back even though it was marked paid (It didn’t feel right to keep a free $550 GLX rod!). Would have liked at least a future discount or points added to my account for returning it. Other credits/refunds are getting to be like pulling teeth at times… I think they need more people that aren’t spread so thin to be honest.  Otherwise a good company I’ve enjoyed doing business with, really like their trade-in program… but yeah it’s starting to wear a little thin.. 1

I’d assume certain dealers have priority. ALF is a major GLoomis authorized dealer though so you shouldn’t have issues there. They’re still a small fish compared to tackle warehouse  If they have taken a step backwards that’s really a shame. I haven’t bought much in the last several years but 5 or so years ago I wore Brian and Graham out. There were ALF boxes all over my house. I think Graham may have moved on since I haven’t seen him active on Facebook in several years.Â
Hulkster Posted Wednesday at 08:18 PM Posted Wednesday at 08:18 PM I have ordered a few G. Loomis rods from them shipped up here to Canada over the years and had no issues. They packed them very safely in a secure rod tube with the rod taped inside to prevent movement. 1
