We’ve got a brand new boat for this year, with a ton of storage so now’s a good time to start upgrading my tackle storage system.  I’ve been using cheap Plano and even dollar store boxes, but they aren’t waterproof and I’ve had some rust losses.  Buzbe stuff is crazy expensive, so I’m thinking the Plano Edge boxes are the way to go.  For those using the Edge stuff, are they proving to be waterproof and durable?  Do you have any favourite or hated boxes in the lineup?  I’m also looking at the BKK terminal tackle box, for hooks, weights etc.  Soft baits likely in bags, sorted by type.  Any other ideas are welcome. 🙂

I like the idea of the Edge boxes, but the cost and weight of them turned me off.

I just use regular Plano 3700's etc and put 1 gram silica gel packets in them. I just make sure I don't put any lures away wet and I never have any rust issues.

I like the edge boxes.. I have most of them.. The only ones I do not use are the ones for terminal tackle (I use the reg 3700s for my terminal tackle) and the crank bait specific boxes (I don't like the design of how the hold the crank baits.. I just use the regular 3700s and make my own compartments for cranks)..

Some don't like the edge latching system, you may be one of them.  Plain old Planos with silica packs are perfectly fine unless you live in a rainforest.

I like my plano edge jig/bladed jig boxes.  Super durable and waterproof.  They can store a ton of jigs as well which is nice.  Bulky, yes.

I actually buy a lot of the waterproof boxes from harbor freight:  https://www.harborfreight.com/tool-storage-organization/parts-storage/large-water-resistant-storage-container-56578.html

They are a cheaper knock off version of the similar style from plano.  I too put silica gel packets in my boxes, but waterproof boxes are the way to go.

I have started easing in the academy branded waterproof boxes. The 3700 are $8.99 and the 3600 are $6.99. I sold most of my edge boxes. To me, if you’re worried about the price of busbee, don’t even look at edge boxes. They are both in the same price category.

I'm like 95% basic Plano 3600 & 3700.

I've got a few 'Cabela's' & 'Lund' boxes,

(came with the boat)

but they both just seem like re-branded Plano products.

I try not to 'put away' wet baits; especially jigs/skirt type deals.

Drying them out helps keep the rust monkey away.

Oh no, a new monkey !

For rust prevention you might consider the Zerust Plastabs. They are VCI's (vapor corrosion inhibitors). They work well. I use them in  my Edge & Stowaway boxes as well as all my tool chests/boxes. They work and take up no room if that matters.

I've got a few edge boxes that I use for specific stuff like jigs, and Fogy baits.  Other then that most of mine are 3700 or 3600s,

IMO the #1 rule to keep rust out of your box is do not put wet baits/hooks away in the box.  Most of my rust issues went away since I started this.  Rarely do I deal with a rusty hook unless I keep a salty soft plastic on one.
