New combo!

Got to try out my new st croix recently! I got a 7’1” medium action GXR and it casts really well. I’ve been tossing 1/16th and 1/8 oz jig heads I was immediately surprised with how far casts were going compared to my slightly heavier action rods. It’s also very easy to feel a light tick of a bass or crappie strike. The gxr reel also has a nice drag which I’m having to get used to as a back reeler 😂. I unexpectedly got a thick white bass that tested the drag when I was just taking a few casts off a public dock to kill time

I just got one too!  I haven't had the chance to fish it yet, but the reel is super-smooth.  The rod feels like the original Mojo rods.

Do you run straight floro on many spinning rods? Ive really gotten to like the braid to leader And actually, I prefer mono for a leader. Stretch is irrelevant when it’s a 6-8 foot leader. To me anyway.

@Dan N, me? I use 6 lb mono for spinning. I use braid for baitcasters but don’t like it on spinning reels. Just a personal preference

Now, I’ll be the first to say that performance outweighs appearance every time. But when you have both, it’s a beautiful thing.
