Super User Darth-Baiter Posted March 2 Super User Posted March 2 around my parts, the Vision110 is the go to jerk bait. same goes for the LV500. I think my friend is the only person I know that uses a different lipless offering. I used to catch a lot of fish as a kid with a silver rattle-trap. success since then has been lacking. until recently. everyone was always telling me, "yank it thru the grass". which did nothing but float a big question mark over my head. until recently. I found myself fishing deep water, with what I think was 1-2 feet grass. I cast out as far is a could let it sink until the line slacked..then I just picked it up a few feet and let it sink. it was crushing the bass!! I had a rod with enough backbone to just jerk it up thru the grass. like I was stroking a jig. I think I am going to experiment with lipless more. I cant imagine a spring time application. is there? it is so snaggy. 1 Quote
Super User FishTank Posted March 2 Super User Posted March 2 @Darth-Baiter I'm pretty much the same. I don't throw a lipless as often as I use to. Not sure why but I think there are just too many good techniques and the lipless just gets set aside. The LV500 is petty much all I use anymore. I have good luck with a few others, like the new Bill Lewis version, Jackall TN60, and one from Nishine but the LV500 has caught the most. One that has been a disappointment, the Megabass Vibration X-Ultra. It has been a dud for me and the finish on them has been bad. I bought a couple and I don't think I have caught a single fish on them in past few years of trying. 1 Quote
Super User GetFishorDieTryin Posted March 3 Super User Posted March 3 Around here the yo yoing bite is the best in late winter to mid march because the shallow water warms so fast. There are so many different shapes, rattles, ROF and sizes that you can generally find one to fit the conditions. When the water is still in the low 40s I like a slower falling trap. As the water warms Ill use traps that sink faster. One I've found that really does well is Duos Nitro Vibe. Its not super thin like the Apex or G fix. The nitro is wider and much better to fish slow, but you can still burn it and whack em too. I like the TN 60 over the LV500. They both sink fast, but the TN sits nose down and works well when fished like a jig in the winter. I want to check out the LV and RTO 150, but its on a gigantic list of baits that I want to try. 1 Quote
softwateronly Posted March 3 Posted March 3 I tend to think of the lv500 and a damiki vault as 2 sides of the same thing; one loud, one quiet. scott 1 Quote
