Someone mentioned on the Matt Herren thread  that another angler was being investigated and possibly disqualified for the Okeechobee event . Then Scott self reports himself a day before the event on  a conversation that happened a few weeks back.  I think theres more to the story.

That was me. I think Scott is who they were referring to. He probably self-reported and it took BASS a couple days to make a decision and announce.

Straight up professional move on Scott’s part. Well done. Wish that Matt had self reported too.

Actually you don’t have to wonder any longer. He was fishing on St. John’s and a guy on a dock started to tell him about a honey hole, he stopped him mid sentence and said  “can’t get any info”

With the advent of social media, I think it's gonna be very hard to limit people telling other people where fish are.  That being said, the rules are the rules and Scott did the right thing.  That being said, the Martins have guides down in Clewiston and are staples of the community (my family met Roland in the Everglades in passing, my mom didn't know who he was and was telling him how to fish down there. xD).

Point being, there's nothing that Scott does not already know about that lake.   And with the advent of the lie detector rules, if he got in the money, he might've been put in a difficult position when answering questions.  Better to self-report and be DQ'd rather than have a 'weights in fish' moment.

ETA:  Upon better reflection I think it's just best for me not to speak on matters that aren't witnessed first hand.

It’s absurd. How can they possibly run their business without gaining some knowledge inadvertently through interaction with their employees/guides.

I'm gonna try to track down some proof and then I will post it.

I just hate to smear somebody's rep without first hand info.

Next time I'll just not post, how about that?

I'll just send the reply to Woolley as I was just posting it up for him because I felt bad about deleting my original post before he saw it.

Maybe a mod can find a better source than Luke Dunkin lol.

I’d have to see that video evidence but I’m disappointed, I supported SM during this debacle, based on the info that was flying around. Now it’s sounding nefarious to me. I’m wondering if there is any honor left in this sport.. still, it blows my mind that Scott would seek out information on his home lake that he knows all to well.

It’s a shame.

I mean makes you wonder, did he have help last year when he won?

You didn’t do anything wrong by posting it at all. It’s all good. My post wasn’t intended to upset you.

You’re right, I don’t think he’s ever been wrong. He definitely has some good sources within all the major tours, which makes sense considering he’s been in the business for so long.
