I think the model you are referring to is the SA2500FD, which I own. I do NOT think the Sustain series is your best choice. The Stradic 2500FH is what I consider the "best value" in the Shimano line-up. I don't think there is enough enhancement in the Sustain to justify the $100 pricing differential.

On the otherhand,

I fish the Stella which is DEFINITELY not an "economic value" when compared to four Stradics, but it does have a few "enhancements!"

I've got one of those.  That is about a 6 year old model.  I dont think they make parts for it anymore.

Great reel though.  Best I have ever used.

I have a 2500 "Twin Power" Japanese Sustain and I love it. Very nice reel. I also have Stradics and a Stella, but if I lost this one, I would get another one. JMHO

I too have the Sustain 2500FD and it is a very smooth yet powerfully fast reel.  It is by far the best spinning reel I have ever owned. I hope to get a Stella someday but the Sustain will have to do for now.

Anyway, I would highly recommend it.

The sustain/twinpower has more drag than ashimano stella 2500 Fb.

The sustain uses a set of 3 drag washers in the spool whereas the stella 2500 use only 1 drag washer.

The sustain is a brilliant reel, it has a direct train mechanism and a joy to use!

I have a 2500 Sustain and it's by far the nicest reel I've ever uses. Not to start an argument, but my Sradic 2500 is the most disappointing reel I've used, maybe I just got a bad one.
