I ordered a Loomis GLX 843 MBR rod online last September with a store credit I had…  However, shortly after ordering the rod it went into backorder status so I bought something else with the credit.

Lo and behold, the GLX showed up on my doorstep today. I contacted the store and they said that backorder just was sent out (nearly 6 months later). It was marked as “paid.”

Almost tempting to keep a new rod like that for free, but I just sent it back this afternoon. A good store and good folks, sometimes people just make mistakes.

If I’d have kept it, I think you sign yourself up for some bad ju-ju… lost fish, lost rods, capsized kayak, who knows?

Principles that override self enrichment?  For me, I'd like to think so, but you just proved it.

My son Eagled out, but in my scouting days, I always told the kids that when you stop and do something such as pick up someone else's trash, something that only you know, those are the things that set you on a reverent and most rewarding path in life. Well done @FryDog62 !!

I would have kept it. If it was a small family owned store, i would return it for sure, but if its a large corpa, they ain't gonna miss a GLX.

This is my response as well.

I would've also sent it back. Taking something you didn’t pay for will make hair grow on your palms or make you pee in the bed. I think that's what I was told.

@FryDog62 For what it’s worth I feel you did the right thing also, regardless of the store.

ALF sent me GLX spinning rod a long time ago.  Issue was I ordered a Daiwa flipping stick.  They were sorta shocked I called and told them about the oopsie.  Sent it back.

I have had it happen. A tube showed up on my front porch with 2 Lew's rods in it.

I sent them back also. Doesn't matter where it came from the principal is the same.

Would you have done the same if it was Amazon? You know, the ones that hire slaves to work at their warehouse?

I have to ask , are you and medium mouth bass related ?

I am not sure what a business practice that I have zero affiliation with has to do with my own personal integrity.  So, yes. Yes I would have.

The fact that you are even arguing that shows plenty about your own personal integrity.

Seriously, what kind of dumb question is that?

Question, did you receive your MMB 2025 calendar yet? I also sell shirts, Hats, and speak at weddings, family reunions, etc... Although those cost money, unlike living rent free in your head.

Personally if this happened to me, id call the company. I wouldnt say anything about sending it back or keeping it, id let them know what happened. If they say keep it thats fine by me, if they ask for it to be returned ill just ask them to cover shipping and send me some stickers. Honestly id love to keep my mouth shut and keep it, but even the smallest amounts of deceit, lies, and sins will be judged one day.

I would have. I didnt pay for it so why should I feel entitled to keep it?

I would and actually have. I ordered a Falcon  Lowrider that no one had in stock at the time from Amazon and they "lost" it. The next day it showed up even though the status still said lost. I actually thought about keeping it and not saying anything for a day or two. The whole time the rod was "lost" and I could have gotten a refund. I did the right thing and let them know the rod was delivered and to keep the charge on my account. The person I spoke to actually seemed pretty surprised I called and let them know. I try and have some decency and integrity in my life, karma and all that.

Not that I agree with Amazon's business practices, I don't believe they use forced labor in their warehouses. I tend to think the drivers could make an easy escape if they needed to and could probably bring a few "slaves" with them. 😂

Then again a troll is going to do troll things so I believe you probably would keep it. Next time I cross a bridge, I'll drop a nickel over the side for you. 👍

Why would we be related?

Because if the company pays so little attention to what they're shipping, and don't even bother to contact you for having shipped more than what was ordered, that's their problem, not the customers.
