Also to anybody who can compare, where does the Tat Elite come into play with all this?

It comes in to boost Daiwas profits by making guys who only shop in the US think they are buying the best Tatula there is. Theres 0 reason to buy an Elite (which is rarely ever sold below the $250 MSRP at authorized dealers) over a JDM Zillion $210-230, JDM Tatula 100 $116-130, etc, etc... The Elite's and Fuego CT are in the same boat to me, nice looking and performing reels but way overpriced and sold above what they are worth.

The Elite is for sure a great reel, but you can buy an Elite Long Cast spool off many places for $45 and stick it in any Tatula CT, Fuego CT. If you have one great, if not they go around $80 used. To me the over $100 price increase for another Zero adjust i have to mess with out of the box anyways isnt worth it.

What do you use each for?

Tatula 80, jerkbaits, finesse baits that are lighter but not BFS light (however many guys on Reddit love the 80 because of aftermarket BFS spool support for it, the deeper spool over the 70 grants much more distance, well so ive heard.

Tatula 100, what the Tatula CT or Fuego CT shouldve been, a reel thats capable of many things, but excels more for lighter heavy duty things like jigs, spinnerbaits, frogging, etc... Also another popular reel for BFS spool swaps.

Zillion, lots of aftermarket support, and compatibility. Out of the box its good for most 3/8-1/2oz lures, super smooth, very light, casts a lipless farther than anything else i own. And i own a few long cast reels. Its a premium reel, and it gives you that experience. However if i couldve done it again, i wouldve went with the Zillion HD. Nicer looking reel, and more of a workhorse (which would fit me better)

@Columbia Craw and anybody else who has used the new tat100 and tat sv100, how do they perform side by side? More/less control/distance than an Elite/Zillion?

One better for long distance wind catching baits?

What does each of these reels shine in for technique/ performance?

sorry you did ask earlier on and I totally forgot to reply.

the Zillion SV I’ve used for 3 seasons straight and it’s always with me.   I use it with 12lbs yozuri hybrid and throw everything I can on it and it’s still a great reel.   It’s a real do everything reel.   The new Tat 100 I have time on it from last season and it feels like my tatula elite and zillion smooth.  I used it for everything, really good workhorse reel.  The zillion HD I used for frogs (not going to this year) and t-rigs in grass and chatterbaits in grass.  It’s like the zillion sv but just cranked up a notch.    The tatula 80 I used it for smaller t-rigs and senkos and it’s a good solid little reel.   Very smooth but I felt it didn’t cast as well as I had hoped.  I also tried it for jerkbaits and topwater baits as well and I just didn’t find the sweet spot for it.  I took it apart and flushed all the bearings and greased it all back up for this season and I’ll try it out again.   In all fairness i didn’t give it much of an honest effort.  My buddy has a couple of the tat 80s and he loves them and uses them as workhorse reels and he can launch a bait with them.  So it must be me.

Thanks for getting back to me

Could you elaborate on how the new tat100 and Elite compare? One more distance and one more control? Cast about the exact same?

I got the Elite already to try and throw my 1/2 oz buzzbaits further from the bank, but it only casts a little farther than my zillion and gives me way more grief in fluff, over runs, or blow ups.

Was hoping the new tat100 would be somewhere in the middle. Was thinking of selling my Elite and getting that instead. Or maybe I'm just resigned to being an SV kindaguy

I experienced the same with the Elite at first but then put it on a square bill rod and instantly became a big fan. Can’t explain why it was drastically way better slinging hard baits over others but am not complaining.

The Coastal SV does a great job with heavier stuff and doesn’t seem to be as heavily braked as the tatula sv

Thanks, I don't feel alone anymore haha

I started just thinking my thumb sucks and it can't learn. Maybe it just doesn't like wind catchy baits. I've seen countless posts calling the Elite their Crankbait bombing reel

Since I have the zillion sv I really only got it because I wanted max distance, and I know I'm still responsible to train my thumb, but feel like it just catches wind and fluffs and I'm not sensitive enough to kill it.

I think I'll use the Elite as my bladed jig reel, maybe throw swim jigs/paddletail on it. Should be able to bomb those.

But if the tat 100 balances that Elite distance and SV control, not really maximizing either but just good with a little help from me, I think I'll give it a go

My brother went to the Classic, and picked up 4 Zillions so I finally got to palm one on a rod.  I had assumed they were about the same size as my '19 tat 100's.  Not so...noticeably smaller and more palmable.  He paid $120 a piece.  Vendor said he was sitting on a bunch because most everyone went with the HD.  However, I suspect a new Zillion will show up next year and probably influenced his pricing.
