Utility box for small terminal tackle

I've tried several options that haven't worked out the greatest.  I still ended up with swivels and rattles and nail weights all over the place.  What 3700 size box has worked best for you?  I'd rather not go the route of gluing some shelf liner to the inside of the lid, but if that's what I've gotta do, I will.

The Plano Edge Terminal tackle box. I have 2 3700s and 1 3600. One 3700 is for Texas Rigged soft plastic,  the other is for swimbaits and misc stuff and the 3600 is for drop shot and free rig.

This box from Academy has worked well for me and costs 1/4 of the Plano Edge. I put a couple cheap desiccant packs from Amazon into it to keep rust away. On rare occasions, the smallest of hooks can slide to the next compartment.

I have an Edge, i bought on sale for around $20-30. I havent taken it on the water and its already warped😌. Its terrible for terminal storage, the containers are so small i can barely fit anything in them, and i also hate how they are enclosed. This will make rust happen very easily. It doesnt matter that they give 1 rust prevention whatever they call it, that does nothing if the containers are closed?

But cheaper 3700's just dont keep stuff where you put them, swivels and smaller hooks end up everywhere....

 

The locking system is the worst part, its a pain to close it, and it can come apart very easily when on the water and dump everything.

 

So i downsize and use these https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1022356358?pid=365578 (the 3003 size). I have about 8-10 of them now, i can fit everything i need for the lake in one. I use one of them for panfish stuff and those hooks are very small, not 1 hook has ended up in a different area yet.

I've used a Plano Edge Terminal Tackle now for two years, still going strong. The latch is not all that's cracked up to be, so be careful with that. The good thing is that the inserts fit perfectly in their 3500 series too, so I can just transfer stuff to a small box if I'm going bank fishing or create dedicated terminal tackle boxes for stuff like dropshot, where I don't need another 3700 size box.

What is the foam with holes for?  Worm weights?

Leave the small pieces in their package and use a couple Ryugi Hook Stockers.  They're $18 and probably cheaper at jdm shops.  It's like a little soft plastics binder.  I have all my hooks I'd use in an outing in one and snaps, swivels, nails, bobber stops in another.  Just slide the original package into the sleave in the Hook Stocker and you're good to go. No sliding into other compartments or getting a ton of water on the stuff you aren't using. Spro mesh bags are good too I used to use those but now they are relegated to hold spinnerbaits. Weights and jigheads go in a Plano Edge.

Yeah, exactly. You have to wedge them in pretty good to not bust loose if you drop the box, which can make it slightly difficult to get out. I just grab one of the 100 hooks in the box and use the eye end to pop them out. You can also take the foam block out and use those compartments empty if that suits your needs better.

 

 

I've heard some great things about the BKK terminal storage system, but haven't seen one in person yet.

Love these!!  I use 2. One for hooks, one for everything not a hook!

I went the rubber shelf lining route, works pretty well but I do get an escapee here and there. I don’t keep real small items in there #1 hooks and 1/32nd bullets are as small as I go. I did find the hooks get stuck in the rubber, had to add a small magnet to the hook bins. Not ideal but good enough. I don’t want to go the zip lock bag way as I like to leave the trays open so everything will dry out after every morning out.

2" x 3" or 2" x 4" zip-lock bags are about $4 per hundred. No special box needed.

Combine the ziploc bags with a gasket sealed plano and I'm 3 years without losing any terminal tackle to rust.  Not the best for quickly id-ing, but it's not that bad either.

I use the medium-sized SPRO Terminal Tackle Box. These are very nice boxes because the latches are sectional where if you have one section open and the box gets dropped etc, only items from the one section are scattered. Also, the individual sections are quite small, so these are specifically for smaller terminal items. 

 

I also use the Ryugi binder for hooks.

That might be just the ticket.  I've got a whole lot of snaps, swivels, o-rings, nail weights, and other tiny things that just love to travel in the box.  I've been fiddling around with a hot glue gun, and if I can't make that work, this will be my next purchase.  Thanks to all who've replied so far.

I have one of these and it's great just to keep handing when I am on my kayak or when I'm pond hopping. No need to carry much more unless you plan on making some major changes throughout the day or loose a bunch of stuff. Only downside, not all packages fit the plastic pouches.
