ABU is overpriced Posted February 23 Posted February 23 It MUST be from TemuđAliexpress doesn't count. Do you have any in your 2025 lineup? Quote
MediumMouthBass Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Call me old fashioned, but i only buy from America, or our allies (like Japan).  I dont participate in this "Temu" "Aliexpress" or "Tiktok" i keep hearing about on the news, all it is is brain rot, cheap knockoffs, scams, 0 buyer protection, along with sending all of your data to a certain government. No thanks!  If you want to save money, stare at Midway, TW, Omnia, Academy, and DSG's websites every day along with Asian Fishing Portal, Japan Lure Shop, Digitaka just to name a few. Ive gotten a bunch of rods, reels, and combos over and over again for 25-35-50-75% off, some were even so good it would make the guys who bought from Japan think they got ripped off. And these rods and reels werent called some weird name, they were the actual item, actual name, from a company that has credibility, a customer support team, oh and a warranty too. (Some JDM stores offer a warranty too if thats where you like to order from, atleast thats what i heard this week).  I know some guys use Temu or Aliexpress for parts, but if your reel needs significant upgrades out of the box, you probably shouldve bought a different reel... Just saying 1 Quote
MonsterZero Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I do my best to avoid giving my money to companies that use, or are likely to use, slave or forced labor. So...no, I do not own anything from them. Quote

There's a lot of good stuff on there. I saw a Pen (notice it's not Penn) baitcast combo for only $5.33. You know that's got to be a quality outfit! 1 Quote

What's funny is the amount of teenagers shilling those noname reels on tiktok. Videos always starting with the usual "i used everything from Daiwa and Shimano, and X nonemane is better, and cheaper!!!!" 2 Quote

33oldtimer Posted February 23 Posted February 23 I noticed half of the reels on Amazon and Walmart.com are the same as the reels on Temu. First, any cheap Abu Garcia or Shakespear or Zebco baitcaster is much better than the reels on temu. A couple of years ago when most baitcast reels were $10 on Temu I bought too many of them. The best reel I got was an Axis baitcaster that feels pretty solid and works, looks good, but nothing to shout about. The Sougayilang baitcasting reels are generally "the best" they have on Temu as the brakes actually work. 90% of the other reels you can only keep from backlashing by tightening down the tension knob. But the Spinning reels on Temu are surprisingly good for inexpensive reels. I find their spinning reels mostly good, don't buy any under $10 though as they are garbage. $10 and up you can get a usable spinning reel that is often better than Walmart cheapos.  Temu had some decent lures. I've got whopper ploppers, bladed jigs, casting jigs, and several nice plastics (curly grubs and swimbaits are pretty decent). Also some great very tiny plastics for panfish.  If you can find lures actually made in America by Americans you can get good quality gear and lures. But most of the stuff on Amazon, at Walmart, and sporting goods stores is all from China anyway.   6 minutes ago, Porkchop_Sandwiches said: nope. I dont like giving my personal info to china Use their online site (not their app), pay with paypal. Pretty convinced that's how my wife's credit card info was stolen: Temu app with credit card #. I only use paypal for online purchases whenever possible. Quote
Skunkmaster-k Posted February 23 Posted February 23 Iâve never bought a rod or reel on tea moo, but I did buy some casting spoons.  Theyâre pretty good. Quote

GRiver Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I bought a baitcaster combo off Aliexpress, about the same a temu. It had a  BFS spare spool and telescopic rod.. the reel was weird, cast great 15-20 cast, then blow up. It might cast 25 more no problems, then pooof. The rod was ok, kept the rig in my truck for that â Oh ⌠I bet there is a bass in thereâ moment. Came across a Zebco Omega/20 spincaster and switched reels, great little set now.  Quote
Bigbox99 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I have this reel. I got it from Aliexpress for a few bucks cheaper but it's also on Temu. It's all the same Aliexpress reels on Temu or Amazon. It's a smallish aluminum frame reel with a high capacity spool and power handle. With a clearance Vengence 76H you can have yourself a sub $60 big bait combo. I was using mine as a deep crankbait rod for a 2 oz 25 footer but have switched it up to braid and beast hook paddle tails later in the year. It has a tip and 1st 1/3 of the rod like my XH Veritas winch but is WAY more stiff in the backbone. Because of that it throws a 2 oz crank super well and better than the Veritas XH but I don't trust it to be forgiving enough with non huge trebles. Going to try a Hudd 68 special on it next. 2 Quote
Bigbox99 Posted February 24 Posted February 24 This one is kind of interesting for a $50 high speed reel. It has a long carbon fiber handle that looks to be about a 110 mm and the same aluminum frame from the Megacuda. I own two examples of this platform and can vouch for its ability to cast. They can sling baits out there but the brakes are on the weak side. With a stiff plastic line like 15 pound BG and a buzzbait I would have to run the brakes near max or at max into the wind but they got the job done every time with no spool tension just left it as it came out of the box (tiny bit of side to side play).  For heavy fluoro I would want to run a smidgen of tension to slow the braking profile and maybe gain some additional range on the mag dial. You can definitely feel the 6.5:1 gears mesh but it's not awful once mounted to a rod and the big knobs deaden some of the buzz. An 8:1 would probably be more noticeable but if you have a high tolerance for that kind of thing then this one looks alright. I've also seen the Piscifun Alloy M at that price too so that's worth cross shopping. I have that reel as well and one thing I can say is that the Megacuda casts more freely and especially with stiff plastic lines probably thanks to the conical level wind placed far from the spool. The Alloy M is a braid only reel for me because of how much it bottle necks line coming off the spool. Quote

Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted February 27 Super User Posted February 27 I have original tatula reel not being used so that will go on. I needed heavy power for 6" magdraft so your post was great timing 3 Quote
msgf91 Posted Wednesday at 09:21 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:21 PM I picked up 2 reels for $12 each off temu.... for when I'm shuffling line around. They work great so far. Probably get a few more in case I want to store line till I'm ready to spool it. Quote

Sp33dSnake Posted Thursday at 05:42 AM Posted Thursday at 05:42 AM I bought 30 frog lures from Temu for $20. I also went and got some quality hooks, because I know the hooks are garbage. Swap them out.  It's not going to be a $10 Booyah frog, but it's close enough for me. Quote
