Until i went to bass pro yesterday lol. I got rid of my Pro Tis (gen 1 and gen 2), Hypermags (gen1), and Custom Pros (gen 1 and gen 2) because I didnt like how they casted. For a centripetal braking system I just didnt like the distance I could get compared to my Metaniums.

The gen 3 is different. It feels smaller, palms really well if you have small to medium hands, and will flat out slip 3/8 of a oz. Cant wait to get it on the water.

Last pic compares size of gen 3 Custom Pros, Curado 70k HG, and Metanium 100HG

Lews high end reels cant be compared with Zillions and Metaniums, as they are more on Par with the Tatula/SLX/Curado lines. (Lews works like this, take every reel they make and take away 25-40%, thats what it is worth and goes on sale for) And im a big Lews fan.

I think the Gen 3 designs across the board is much better, from fit, finish, and looks. I also love how they went all in on giving every reel (even the cheap LFS) BB1 Pro handles and grips. By far my favorite ones out of every reel, and brand i own.

Hate to be this guy, but if you had waited 12 days you couldve bought a clearance rod at Walmart for $5-7 and got $50 off this reel at Bass Pro per their Spring Classic trade in program.

@Huckfinn38 If it were me I’d return the reel to Bass Pro explaining why I’m doing it, they have an unusual grace period on returns in my opinion and they may even understand why you’re doing it and let you take advantage of the sale at the time of return. It’s worth a shot in my opinion.

Nice looking reel.  Not to crazy about the color, but I don't hate it.

Fished with a buddys Lews a few years ago that was nice.  It was very light, 6oz or less, very small.  It had a glossy rainbow-colored finish to it.  I think it was magnesium, but it i guess it could have been AL.  I had just gotten my first 20 Met, which is what i was subconsciously comparing it to in my head.  I was surprised to see that it cost about 350$, not because I didn't think it was worth it, but its strange that my buddy would spend that kind of money on a Lews being a Shimano fan.

Probably a Hypermag...Im not big on this color either.  I dont understand why reel companies dont stick to black and silver/grey.  This reel is $279 and I think it isnt as nice as my JDM Metaniums and I think cost more but I like it better than all previous Lews.  I think the size and the mag breaking i what I like the most.  ITs weird to see a Lews high end reel not have a carbon handle too.

Isn’t this just another magnetic braked reel on a slightly different frame from Korea?

From experience, should’ve stuck with the Mets, but to each their own.

I didnt get rid of a metanium and wont. But Im not also so blinded by my love for Metaniums that I wont try something else.  Quality wise Id compare this reel to a Tatula SV TW.

I was something pro something lite I think.  Felt nice in the hand, size and shape wise.  I liked the brake system on Met better, but I didnt want to mess with his brake settings too much.

I think the color is mostly for product identity.  13 had success with it, but they were pushing a decent product at a budget price.  Once you get to that upper mid-tier PP the bold colors don't seem to sell as well.  I like some of Daiwas colored reels, the coastal looks great and so do their jigging reels.

I kind of think the color is ugly. Also don't like the fact that they have 3 right handed models but just the 7:5 for the left handed version. Normally like Lew's (I own more Lew's casting reels than any other brand) and I'm not as much of a Shimano or Daiwa fanboy as some people seem to be and as far as casting reels go I usually choose between these 3 brands and then go by which one is on sale...but that said probably going to pass on this one unless they decide to at least add a 6:8 left since that's my favorite ratio for Lew's reels...and even then this one seems like a bit of a Daiwa knock off (yet more expensive than the Daiwa I'd compare it to) and that color is still ugly and reminds me of a bad couch from the 70s.

In summary if I was throwing a lighter lure and wanted a breaking system like that I'd opt for the sv tw...alternatively for heavier lures not sure that's really needed anyway and I'd take their old tourney pro lfs in a 6:8 over this one in a 7:5 and not have to worry about looking like goldmember from that austin powers movie.

/end rant

Agreed, the last gen being cleared out by BPS for $180 looks phenomal. This color looks like it belongs on their "Mach" series.

Still a nice reel, but not my cup of tea.
