Fluorocarbon for suspending jerk baits ??

When they lake thaws out I like to use suspending jerk baits and jigs early on,I am thinking about trying fluro. again on the jerk bait combo because it sinks. Vanish is readily available to me (wal-mart is less than a mile away) but had bad expeirance with it 2 years ago (is it any better now?) Don't like Yo-Zuri hybrid either, and it floats anyway. What I usually toss jerkbaits on is 10lb Trilene XL, never had problems, but the sinking fluro would help me keep the baits down easier, and with out the use of suspen-dots (I think....if I am wrong here let me know) I toss my jerkbaits on a 6' M casting rod, and typicaly use #8 or #10 husky jerks and this year will try #8, and #10 X-raps. Can anyone recomend a good flurocarbon other than Vanish, my BPS has Gamma, BPS XPS Fluro, P-line and Seguear. Or should I just forget the idea of fluro and stick with mono?

Fluorocarbon is a very sensitive line because of the lack of stretch.  Mono has alot more stretch causing it to be less sensitive.  You will detect alot more hits with the fluorocarbon then with mono.  The other bonus is that fluorocarbon is alot less visable then mono.  This will helps on longer pauses needed early in the spring when the water is cold.

With jerkbaits, the big advantage that I see in fluoro is that sinks so allow your lures to run deeper if you need to. I'm not sure that you need extra sensitivity with any treble hook lure and a bit of stretch may even be beneficial.

Most of mine jerkbait fishing is done with spinning gear, I carry 2 spools, P-Line CX that is a flouro coated copolymer ( floats ) and P-Line Fluoro ( now Halo ). I alternate them according to water depth and fish location.

Bass Pro shops makes a good flourocarbon line..

I use 8lb fluorocarbon exclusively for jerkbaits, mainly to get them to run a foot or two deeper.  I seem to always outfish my boater when fishing jerkbaits, and I feel lighter fluorocarbon is one the reasons and a definite advantage.  Try it...you will get bit more often.

I've tried some of the flourocarbon lines. I've tried Sunline, Great line but pricey at over 20 dollars for 110 yds.  

I like BPS around $14.00 for 200 yds. handles as well, in my opinion, as the sunline and cheaper.

You should give Vicious a look. its about $10.00 for 250 yds. Only used it a little but loved the way it worked. Really liked the price.

Flouro for jerkbaits? Absolutely. And yes, Vanish is much better than it was when it first came out. So is Transition.

I use floro on most all my poles and I do fish jerkbaits with them. I have always used vanish and never had a problem with it.
