Brett's_daddy Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I’m trying to pare down my rod collection and save some money in the process. I want a sensitive, versatile MH rod that can be used for multiple techniques. I have a Fury 734c but am wondering if the Cashion Icon 7’4” multipurpose rod would be more sensitive and worth replacing the Dobyns? Quote
GReb Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I have several Icons cranking rods and love them. Wasn’t a fan of the Fury but this is not really an apples to apples comparison. The Icon is twice the price. 1 Quote

Normally but it’s currently 25% of at Tackle Warehouse for their Spring Sale which brings it down to about $157. Quote

Ah I see. The carbon fiber handle on the Cashion is a love or hate material. I like it but I know some don’t. The only real pet peeve I have with Cashion is their guide wraps are hideous. They are fat like little footballs. But I’ve never had one fail. Their blanks are hand rolled in house and the models I own I have a perfect action but like I said they’re crankbait rods so I can’t speak for a general purpose rod. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy one though…. 2 Quote
Peacedivision Posted February 20 Posted February 20 My only Icon is the 610ML BFS rod and I'm a fan but as @GReb said the fit and finish isn't the best. Wraps on the guides are fat and the epoxy around the grips isn't the cleanest work. Nothing that effects performance just a little sloppy for a US made rod at that price point. One thing to keep in mind all the Icons use micro guides so if you run braid to leader better use a slim knot. Quote
Rockhopper Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I just ordered my first Cashion. Should be here Saturday. Understood going into it about fit an finish, but from what I have read they get nothing but praise. And supporting a smaller USA company...I am all about it. 2 Quote
Super User webertime Posted February 20 Super User Posted February 20 I have a 73MH Core model from Cashion and it's nicer than any Fury I've had so I would imagine an icon would be better. The goofy wraps and carbon grip are definitely something that may bug you though. Quote
GReb Posted February 20 Posted February 20 The carbon grips took me a bit to get used to but I like them so much they were put on last two custom builds Quote
LonnieP Posted February 20 Posted February 20 I have a couple of Cashion Icons. The blanks are more sensitive than the Dobyns Champions, so the Fury isn’t even in the same league. Nice rods if you don’t mind the fat wraps around the guides. Cashion’s warranty and customer service is top notch. Had a tip break on my crankbait rod and they shipped me out a new one once I emailed them some pictures of the breakage. Quote
