Thanks man. I was going to use my swim jig rod (7’2 mh/f) but the more I read i would be better off with a mh/mf

I have been using a 6'10" MH Regular action rod (moderate fast) for the last couple of years for spinnerbaits, chatterbaits, and crankbaits. I also use a Lew's LFS Speed Spool in the 6.8:1 ratio. Very happy with the way the combo fishes.

That’s the same setup I’m wanting. Which rod do you use?

Yup.  I’ll bet the 7’4” MH/mod-fast would make a great bladed jig rod.  I use a very similar rod with 14# Fluoroshield copoly line.  Excellent hookup and landing ratio.

I have been using a Daiwa Rebellion 6'10 MH-R and just purchased a Daiwa Tatula XT 6'10 MH-R. They are both JDM rods that are 2 piece and I was able to find them locally. Good rods. They both are rated 1/4-1oz and have the carbon cross wrap for increased strength.

I also have two Daiwa Aird-X 7' MH-F rods that fish more on the moderate fast side, they are nice as well.

Would that Daiwa rod work for spinners and chatters? I might just buy the airdx 7’0 mh/f to save money.

Although I don’t own the rod you shared the link to I do own a few Lews rods including 3 speed sticks 2 carbon fire(DSG exclusive) and a Hank Parker (Wally World exclusive) along with a first generation TP1 which is a 7’-2” moderate fast “crank back” rod. The rod you shared looks really similar to my TP1 which was touted as an excellent bladed jig rod and I’m sure it would be but I tend to throw smaller sized bladed baits on a 7’ rod although I probably could throw them on my 2 6’-10” speed sticks. I bring this up only because I was at my local Wally World last week and a store associate was unloading the latest speed sticks which I shared information about in the Falcon Evo thread on here and they’re priced at $59.00 dollars, and although I don’t know exactly where you’re at I’m pretty sure there’s a Wally World around you to see if they carry them. I would also suggest looking at the 7’-0” Lews Carbon Fire at DSG which are on sale for $56.00 currently. The blanks are IM-8 vs HM45 which means nothing to me but outside of that they seem pretty similar in all other aspects although the speed sticks are a tad heavier but I feel you don’t need the most sensitive rod for bladed baits to feel the blade moving. My last suggestion would be if you can wait until next month BPS is having there annual spring classic sale and if you have a trade in you can save I believe $10.00-$15.00 on the Lews purchase and then buy a few BPS bladed baits which should be on sale at the same time.

100%, line choice will be a factor. I used the aird x rods on a boys weekend trip in the fall. Reel was spooled with 12lb Yo zuri hybrid and threw both spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. Caught some nice smallmouth on that trip. Big game mono would also be a good choice.

Oh Ya - despite the Mojos and Victorys I have, my Aird-X MH/F and a 6.8:1 reel spooled with 12# YZH is still my spinnerbait/bladed jig rod

Haven't tried this latest gen but based on my experience w/ the previous tp1 black series I'd say yes...and I also prefer a mod fast rod for bladed jigs so definitely another yes vote here...that speed spool will look nice on it and 6:8 ratio is also what I'd go with...overall good value setup.

I remember reading some of your previous post reviewing this line of rods, which sold me on buying one. I liked the rod enough to buy another. I really like the longer trigger on these rods, I find them quite comfortable to fish.

The Aird X is an enigma to the fishing industry. So many overlook it and think a rod is only "good" if it costs $100-300. And most of them are right, because not many of the budget rods are good. Except this one.

Its not as sensitive as my Team Custom Pro Lews rods, nor my Dobyns Furys but its practically indestructible, super durable, kind of if the Ugly Stik GX2 had better materials and was a nice rod.

Its great for moving baits where you want more power but some bend, although its no where near a true moderate or moderate fast cranking rod bend. It costs $55, which is a steal. Although they can and have went on sale around $25-33. I might have bought a few during that sale, a few might be 14 in total. I started doing a rod overhaul where im replacing my older cheaper rods with more expensive higher end rods, nicer finishes, feel, and more sensitivity. But im planning on keeping 3 Aird X's in my main rotation with them because i love them.

I use the 7'3" MH F rod the most of of the whole lineup, it excels at ripping a lipless crank or bladed jig out of grass. Its rated up to 1oz so spinnerbaits are also pretty good on it. Although the 7' MH would probably be better suited for it since its shorter, stiffer, and just feels like its got more power.

In bass fishing theres only 2 things i will always praise, believe in, and spread the word about religiously, and this rod line is one of them.

thank you for the info. Theres an academy not far from me so Il go try and get one of the 7'0 mh/f fast rods for chatters and spinners.

I use a Lews Mach 1 rod my buddy gave me for spinnerbaits and chatterbaits. 6'10 MH/F. Works great! That should be a good choice.

If you do go to look at them and decide you want one take a cotton swab with you and rub it on each guide, make sure none of the material sticks.

These rods are great, but again they are budget rods sold in big box stores.

One of mine was bad and past return date by the time i noticed it.

(i do this as a standard practice for all rods sold in store though, but especially on cheaper ones)

Both spinnerbaits and Chatterbaits have heavy wire big hooks so use a MHF casting rod of choice. Spinnerbaits have more wind resistance loosing some casting distance vs moderate action rod but hook setting is better with the Fast action rod.

I dont like a MH modF at all for chatterbaits, especially if you are using mono or FC.  I haven't been able to find a MH MF with enough power in the mid section to confidently set hooks at distance and rip a bladed jig out of grass without too much effort.  For mostly 3/8 and occasional 1/2oz chatterbaits I like 7'3 MH F (1/4 or 5/16-1oz) and for mostly 1/2 and up I like 7-3or4" H F or R depending on the line.
