Ive never made my own jig skirts and I don’t know if I want to make the full commitment to do so, but I was wondering about buying jigheads and rubber banded jig skirts separately and then wire tying the pre-made skirts on? This way I could match my favorite jigheads with my favorite colored skirts from different brands, save some money, and see if I want to make my own skirts from scratch in the future.

What wire would you recommend to tie them?

22-26 gauge craft wire. I use 24 gauge copper wire coated black.

Sure you can do that.. I never saw the need for it but there is nothing stopping you from it..employ your ideal. Tinkering is fun.

I use 26 ga copper floral wire.  If you want to save more money you can use skirt tabs and wire.
